Rash...
So you might remember that Kaden didn't do with his 4 month shots. He got a high fever and was inconsolable for a few days, which led to two weeks of no sleep for all of us. So with his 6 month shots we decided to break them up and he had his first one on Friday. On Saturday he developed a minor rash, but by Sunday evening it was full blown all over his body like a reaction to something. It wasn't bumpy and it didn't appear to bother him, but it wasn't pretty either. So after we got him down Tina called the advice nurse who scared us to death. She said we needed to take him into urgent care because it could get worse in the night and possibly interfere with him breating (how's that for making you get your sleeping angel out of bed!) Rash isn't one of the known side effects of the shot, and she thought we shouldn't wait to have him seen in the morning. So, we bundle him up and take him to the urgent care, where I spend the hour wait time trying to find a sub (I'm a teacher). I finally just call it in to the system to get a random person to come in for me and they call us in. The nurse takes one look at it and says "viral rash". Ok. What the heck is that? Apparantly, sometimes when babies get sick (he had the sniffles and a bit of a cold a week or so ago) a virus is the cause and it can also cause a rash, either with the actual illness or sometime after. Of course, this had to happen after his shots, so we didn't know better. Probably I would have taken him sooner if he hadn't just had his shots though. So, long story short, I am home today with the rare "Spotted Kaden" and used a sick day for no reason. Wait, scratch that... I get to spend the day with my little man, even if he is polka-dotted.... I am grateful that he's ok, for sure. Gee, the things you don't know and you learn as a parent!

Glad to hear it's nothing serious but not fun being scared for nothing. A good mental health day is what I would call it. I almost took one of those today too but I only have one left to use in the next month before I go on maternity leave and am thinking there may be a day later in the month that I'll feel much worse than today.

Hey Donna-
Danny gets that rash too when he's sick. Looks like head to toe *****ly heat. Did they give you something for it?
Poor Kaden... amazing that happened right after a shot... that would've been enough for me to say "forget it... no more shots for you" LOL
Hope he feels better soon!

Two weeks ago I took my Kayden to the ER because of the same rash. He had on his face, arms, legs, tummy, back, and butt. The dr there told me it was viral too. Then he told me to give Kayden a 1/4 tsp of Benedryl. I did and the rash went away. You might want to try that. I used the Walmart brand of benedryl.
