Could it be teething?

OK, my mom keeps Mallory every Sunday for 5-6 hours, it is their 'day' together. Well she called me yesterday to come get her early because she had been fussy and crying almost the entire time that she had been there. Brought her home, put her in her jammies, and gave her some Tylenol. She is normally not too fussy at all, but last night she just kept wanting to be held. She would only sleep if one of us held her, and I let her lay in the bed with me last night until she feel asleep. She is still eating good, but when I went to pick her up mom was trying to feed her and she was mostly just chewing on the nipple. She has been chewing on her hands more and more lately also. We figure she is either getting sick because our funky weather has been so up and down or else she is starting to teethe. She just turned 3 months old. I know that it early but still possible. Or maybe she just wanted to be with us or maybe she knows her Daddy starts his new job next week and she is going to daycare! Who knows? Valena

Could be teething....or it could be an ear infection. Is she drooling nonstop? Fever? Loose stools? All signs of either teething or ear infections. Sometimes teething symptoms start anywhere from a month to a week before the actual tooth appears. Good luck! Tammy

The drooling is getting worse as of late...and she felt a bit warm yesterday, no loose stools though (THANK YOU GOD!) Valena

It very well could be teething. Look at her gums and see if they are swullen and red or if you can see any white trying to pop through. Look in her ears as well to make sure they don't look red or irritated. Jess

For a long while now her gums have felt kind of hard, especially the top ones...but don't the bottom ones usually come in first? Valena

oh I hate that. Wouldnt it be nice if babies could talk... Sometimes when A gets fussy i give him gas meds and he rips a few and feels alot better. I hope Mallory feels better

That was too funny! Kayden has just started laughing every time he passes gas. It's so funny to watch him. He will rip one and then start laughing and then he rips a few more which sends him into uncontrolable giggles and it's a vicious circle. The more he laughs the more he passes gas and the more he passes gas the more he laughs. Naturally it makes my 4 year old fall on the floor laughing too. When all the kids are home I have all 4 of them in hysterics because the baby farts. I don't know whether to laugh or cry myself. Tammy

I hope she feels better today. Our weather has been getting colder, and I think some of Hunter's bad days are a combination of not feeling good & teething. He was just very fussy/clingy for DH on Thursday ALL DAY. Mark couldn't wait to go back to work on Friday!! I told him not to take it personal!! It has been in the mid-30's here, so one of these days Hunter will end up getiing a cold, along with his teething thing, he is gonna be a REAL JOY to be around!! HA HA I hope you girls have a much better day today. P.S. We have tried to be "ahead" of the game & get all the teething stuff & have it ready here at the house. -Jamie & Hunter

Hi Jamie ~ Alexander and I still have a way to go before we worry about teething. But you got me thinking that I should be prepared...what kinds of things did you get? Cheryl Mom to Baby Alexander 7/10/2006
