Sleeping question
Hi eveyone,Johnny is 5 mths. old..He still gets up at night atleast 1 time for his bottle and like 4 for his paci..He takes maybe 3 naps during the day for a half an hour and he goes down at night around 8-9 then he wakes up at around 12 for a bottle then all different times in between for his paci. Then he wakes up at 7 am. For the day..Needless to say I am exhausted..I am still scared to put him in his own room so I brought the crib in our room..I tried feeding him later giving him a bath at night,But nothing seems to keep him asleep..Any help? Thanks,Kelli
I am not sure if I will help, but I'll tell ya what i do!!
We try & keep Hunter's bedtime at 7pm. I start by taking him down to his room and changing him into jammies on the changing table, which he LOVES to be on. (we have a tri-level house) so he is still in the bassinette in our room. His bedroom is on another level then our bedroom. Then he goes downstairs to our room, and daddy feeds him his nighttime bottle, and after he finishes the bottle, he will play for a little while, and usually falls asleep with his full belly in about 15 to 20 minutes after he is all done with his bottle. He will usually wake up once at night for his bottle anywhere between midnight & 2:30am (sometimes as early as 10:30!!--not usually though) And he is usually awake for the day at 5:00am. He is only 4 months right now, and ouor goal for October is to get him into his crib at night. So, that will be interesting, I'll keep everyone posted!!
Gotta go & feed my hungry boy right now!!

Kelli,
Ugh, I know how you feel. When Kaden was almost 5 months old we finally had to go to "Sleep Boot Camp" as we called it. We read all the sleep help books, did the "Ferberizing" stuff, and the wake, feed, play, sleep cycle things from others. We went in every 5 minutes, 10 15, etc, but it didn't help. It only made things worse, as he knew eventually that we'd come in, and quite frankly, his will at that time of night was stronger than ours. Finally, we started with his first nap, he loved sleeping in his swing, so we put him in there awake (but tired), and he cried himself to sleep, but we sat right next to him. His next nap we put him in his crib awake, but tired. He eventually fell asleep and slept hard. Same with the next nap and nighttime. It was SO SO SO SO SO HARD to let him cry. I had to walk outside a few times to keep from running in there. Within 2-3 days though, he was going to sleep within 10 minutes of crying! AND-he stayed asleep longer!!!! He still wakes at least once a night for a bottle, which we're trying to put a stop to after we see the doc on Friday, and still occasionally wakes more than that (we figured out it was because of teething though, and now that the tooth is through he's back to once a night again). Still, its WAY better than the 7x/night we had there for a while after his 4 month shot fiasco! He will occasionally fight a nap, but not usually bedtime. We have a good consistent routine and that really helps everyone. I hated to do the "cry it out", but it was the only thing that worked. Yes, those first few days are hell (I recommend doing it the way we did it so that by nighttime he's got the idea already and you don't have to have quite as much stamina), but honestly, he wasn't getting enough sleep, and now EVERYONE in the family is much better rested. Good luck with whatever you decide to try.

Thanks Donna,So I should put him in his crib not quite sleeping yet just really tired and then let him put himself to sleep and that might help him to sleep more longer? Now he falls asleep in our arms then we put him in his crib ,so you think we should put him in his crib awake put real tired? Thanks for any help I am willing to try anything..Kelli
