The Milk Issue...and Some Others!

I have a question....how careful are you guys about not giving your little one milk? I don't straight out give her milk, but she eats foods containing milk. Like mac and cheese, homemade mashed potatoes, banana bread, etc. Also, the eggs, I don't give her eggs (although she sure does eye scrambled eggs!) but she'll eat things with eggs like french toast and such. I just feel so lost with her eating issues! Mike and I are so obsessed with iron amounts (hers was low), protein so that she doesn't get too filled up so she'll eat more, formula amounts, what she can handle and what she can'****ching for allergies, then all the stuff health officials say she should and shouldn't have! I feel so overwhelmed! Oh, and we have pretty much phased out most of her baby food, which I feel like we shouldn't be doing! UGH!! Help! Oh, Willow is almost 10 months old!

I'm anal with what I give Danny but he'll eat anything I put in front of him. He'll be 10 mos old on the 25th. I've been following my doc's guidelines on what to introduce pretty closely. I give him yogurt, cheese, and cottage cheese all the time and food made with dairy like mashed potatoes with my docs blessing but the stuff containing milk in small quantities. He doesn't get eggs other than the ones you can find in baby food (Beechnut Advantage has egg yolk, also pasta is made with egg yolk) My doc said I could give him the yolk only as of now but I just haven't done it yet. I'm trying to keep him on the baby food as long as I possibly can. I don't have to worry about the texture, size, portion size, etc. I don't want him to end up eating crap like my nieces.... everytime we go out, they want pizza, mac and cheese or greasy fried chicken fingers!!! UGH!!! I do give him some veggies and fruits that are fresh like watermelon, cantelope, etc. He's eating cereal w/ stage 2 fruit for breakfast with some cheerios that he self feeds. For lunch he has either a stage 3 veggie or a stage 2 veggie, some soup (we share) or some gerber graduates raviolis or meat sticks. For dinner he has a stage 3 meat and veggie dinner, a stage 2 fruit for dessert or stage 2 meat and veggie dinner, some pastina or cereal and fruit. I don't really give him snacks other than a cookie once in a blue moon when I want him to be good in his high chair! LOL He gets 4 formula bottles a day- all are between 6-8 oz depending on what time he last ate and what he's in the mood for and one juice bottle (2oz juice w/ 2oz water) I have his docs appt on Monday... I'm going to ask about the stage 2 formula because he said no straight up mil****il after a year old. Supposed to be a transitional formula to get them used to milk and a different vitamin regiment that table food eaters should be getting. I'll let you know what he says about it. -Janine
