OT: Lasik Eye Surgery
Has anyone here had Lasik eye surgery? I've been researching this and would really like to have it done but would like to hear from some people who have gone through it already. I've been wearing glasses since I was in 2nd grade. Through high school and up till a few years ago I wore my contacts most of the time (took them out every night because I was too scared to sleep in them..) but my allergies have gotten so bad I can't really wear them any more.
Any pros or cons (your own personal opinion/experience) from people who have had this done would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Janine,
Thank you for your reply. I've been wanting to do this for a while now but of course my insurance doesn't pay for it. My company does offer a discount. I'm not sure how much though. My DH is not sure about it though. He wants to talk to people who had it done a few years ago to see how they are doing now.
One of these days I'm going to get it done... along with all my plastics.

Hi Teresa
I just had Lasik done about 6 weeks ago. I had the Nidek laser done, not the new wavefront (custom). It's amazing to wake up at night and see the alarm clock and actually see while I am in the shower! Sometimes I still try to grab my glasses on the nightstand .
The only down side to it is the night time vision. I am still having a hard time getting used to it. They told me that lights at night would create a halo looking effect to it. I guess I just never really thought what that ment prior to surgery. I am not really comfortable still driving at night, especially in an area that I have never been. If I would have paid extra for the wavefront procedure, then I probably won't have these side effects.
But, I would still do it again. Defintely well worth the money. Expect I am always loosing my sunglasses.

They offer 0% interest rate. So I pay only $50 dollars a month. I purchased the 3 year insurance type plan. So if I need to have a "touch up" procedure or anything else, it wouldn't cost me a dime. I paid 1398.00 It would have been a lot cheaper without that plan too.
Insurance does not pay for this procedure. It is considered cosmetic. But if you add how much you pay for your glasses or contacts. You actually save money. (I don't work for them )
Hope this helps.

ps- you can email me if the link doesn't work or if you have any other questions.
