I didn't have an issue. Barix Clinics in Langhorne took care of all my paperwork. I work in Philly and live in Croydon. Nice to meet you.

WLS 5/31/07. Maintaining a weight loss of 141 pounds and feeling amazing!
I have been on this website for a few months, and today i found this group.
I live in Philadelphia and have been in the process testing, doctors visits all the moves to get Gastric Bypass. I got clearance from all, all good to get but, I have Independence health insurance and my surgery has been denied.
All of this process to get denied. I go to temple Hospital Bariatrics center there answer to my denial was get another insurance or pay Cash for the surgery. That was a let down!!
So i called my health insurance and was told by them that my surgant can try to do a Peer to Peer with the insurance and maybe my insurance will give in and give an approval.
I wanted to ask if anyone here has had this issue with being denied and if so what is an option in getting thru with this to get approved. Thanks in advance.
I'm guessing you'll have to check with your HR department on that one. I didn't get quite that far in my quest for cosmetic surgery, but it's definitely something I wondered about myself!

MY NAME IS CASSIE. I HAD MY SURGERY 9-10 years ago. For the most part, I feel amazing - I am truly happy I got the surgery - would not change that for the world.
I consider myself at the end of my journey and I am scheduled for an abdominalplasty on 4/25. I am super excited. This is the last piece of the puzzle for me in my weight loss journey. I was to look good inside my cloths and outside of them.
My only problem is will short term disability pick up my coverage ofr be out. The fact is - is that I am in constant pain because the muscles in my stomach are so detached and loose - it feels lie I'm walking around with a pulled muscles, part of my stomach protrudes out of y stomach - I was told the only way to fix it is to have the stomach tightened and to have the muscles retightened as they once were. I don't want to suffer an more - I want to feel 100% good.
Good luck to everyone on their own personal journey.
I had Capital Blue Cross (a company plan) and they put up EVERY obstacle possible. My approval took 18 months. Check the fine print of your policy - is there a specific exclusion for bariatric surgery? If so, there may be no way around it. Have you talked to a BCBS rep?

I have not heard of this. Barix helped me with all my paperwork. I believe I had NJ BCBS at the time.
