Wow, I cannot believe it is 12:32. . .  the day has totally gotten away from me, which is not a terrible thing. . .

Anyway, this is my plans today at 4 years, 8 months post-op

B:  same as all week, 2 slices french toast made with light w/w bread, eggbeaters in a nonstick skillet and 1.5 slices of turkey bacon

S:  Cherries

L:  Sausage, peppers and mock pizza (made with spinach, cheese and tomato sauce)

S:  Cheese

D:  Up in the air based on the need to work late. . .

That's it, plus water, vitamins and calcium supplements

Have a good day, as Jill's post of yesterday said, listen to your pouch and do your best to make good choices

Awesome and it really is amazing when we listen. . .  sometimes though, we are just unbelieving of the fact that we can fill up so quickly. . .

 Lisa,

I hope Siehara has a wonderful summer and that you and Neil get some quality time together with a lot less stress!!

I am scrambling to figure out what to do with my child, since I just found out that I am working the summer program at my school . Logistically, it is a bit crazy, but I am hoping to have this figured out soon! At least I won't have to worry as much as I usually do about money!!

Have a great day!

Love, Beth

Topic: Listening to the pouch
Today's experiment is called "listening to my pouch."  I have developed the bad habit of ignoring my full signal (a belch) and continuing to eat past that, sometimes to the point of pain.  So, today I decided I would listen to my pouch, eat what I wanted, but stop when I belched, throwing (or putting) the rest of that meal away.  Okay, so easier said than done apparently.

I started my breakfast.  After about 3 bites, I belched.  And my brain said, "That's impossible.  You can't be full yet.  Must be gas."  So I took a couple of more bites, but paid real attention to what I was feeling.  Another belch.  Damn!  I really AM full.  I threw out over half the meal (ham, egg and cheese on an english muffin).

So, part of me is mourning the loss of this food that is in the trash.  (told you I was sick)  And the other part of me feels grateful that my pouch still works; absolutely amazed that my body can truly be satisfied with so little food; proud of myself for listening to the pouch (even though I fought it there for a minute); and quite simply awestruck by the power of the pouch!!!  LOL

Thanks for letting me share.

Blessings, Jill

Today's the day!!  We are up, packed and ready to go.  We are stopping at our favorite diner for breakfast and then hitting the road and heading north!!

It will be so strange for the first few days.. the cats already know something is going on since her room is clean and so is the living room.. lol.  There is still stuff that I am going to put away once she's gone, but for now, it's unusually eerie here. LOL

Packing healthy snacks for the car and lots of water.  It's going to be HOT.. stay hydrated everyone!!!

Topic: RE: More new on alcohol and Gastric Bypass
I appreciate your sharing this information.

When Gene had his surgery, his surgeon told him under no cir****tances was alcohol acceptable and to never touch it after his surgery.  That was in 2005 prior to his Jan 2006 surgery.  Not a big deal mainly because neither Gene nor I drink.  When I started the process for my own surgery, I went to the same practice, different surgeon, again I was told absolutely no alcohol after my surgery and to be aware that after surgery there might be the possibility of becoming an alcholic if I did decide to drink.  As I was told many who lose the weight start to drink when they become thin, it's something they might or might not have done when heavy.

For me alcohol does not metabolize in my body.  I can't even use vanilla extract with alcohol in a protein shake without feeling horrible.  I could not drink when I was young either.

Gene and I had a very good friend who had the surgery probably 10 years ago.  He did well until he picked up booze and drugs again (prior to surgery he abused both), the surgery was supposed to fix all this.  Again very sad WLS does not fix these issues.

Thank you for sharing!!!!

I'm no cook so if I want vegan snacks this is the place to go.Danielle makes the best and you can get then in Bethlehem or in the high end restaurants in Philly and Manhattan.
