Hey Trish,
I rarely check in on this board any more because it is pretty much dead these days. So glad that you are enjoying life out in Michigan with the munchkins. I don't think that our weather in PA has been too different from Michigan this winter. As I type this we are expecting snow for St. Patty's Day. I think that there have been 7 or 8 snow days do far. I can't wait for Spring to get here. I am enjoying the days being longer. Not going out to Barix anymore so I just keep up with a few of my peeps. Will continue to look in on the board. Have no doubt that you will be an awesome docent at the zoo. Happy St. Patty's Day Trish. Good hearing from you. Take care.

We had surgery same month same year. I also have had some deficiencies, but mostly my own fault. I went through a period of time that I wasn't taking my vitamins like I should have. I was never instructed to take an iron supplement. I had been suffering from fatigue for a long time, and that's how I found out that I had a deficiency. Fortunately, I didn't have to have any transfusions or iron shots.
Seems there aren't very many of us old timers on here. I used to come to the site routinely when I was a newbie.
I came on today because I have been struggling to keep the weight from creeping back on, and was looking for some moral support. Seems this far out, you try to eat like a "normal person", and you blend in with the masses..no one knows your food issues. I know though, and my relationship with food never has been and never will be normal.
I read a lot of the stuff the weightless babies post, and I fear for some of them. Weight loss surgery forces you to deal with your emotional food issues, because when you wake up from the anesthesia, you're comfort/hiding place/your excuse for failure is stripped away from you.. You want to eat ..but you can't. That's when you really realize what a mess you have been. If you don't truly resolve your issues, you end up posting 13 years out because food is still more important to you than it should be....
Anyway, sorry to ramble.

Greetings Pennsylvania,
I haven't checked in here in eons. My old laptop crashed in August, and I didn't replace it till October. Then, I'm sometimes barely on it, because my grandchildren and church keep me busy. Except for the wicked weather, and the three feet of snow that has accumulated on my yard since Christmas, I love it here in Michigan. It has only gotten above 30 degrees twice since the holidays, so the snow just gets deeper and deeper.
In August, I had my gall bladder out, and I'm so grateful for that. Then, I did return to PA over the holidays. A few weeks ago, I traded in my 11 year old Honda Civic, with 155,000 miles on it, for a 2012 Toyota Camry, with a warranty taking it to 90,000. My three grandchildren were getting to big to fit in the Civic's back seat together. I love my new wheels, because it's loaded with technology.
I'm in the process of getting training to be a docent at the zoo here. Docents are volunteer educators, who help with group tours, and classroom animal lessons.
I hope my friends in PA are well. I miss the Barix support group meetings. I did see Dr. Marymor in July, when I was back there for a visit.
Hugs to all.

Now that I'm not so completely overwhelmed at work, I figured I might check in here from time to time. I went to the support group meeting at Barix in Langhorne last night. It was a good one. We have been following a new format there and it seems to be working. I'll post a reminder here for our next meeting, which is the first Saturday of March.

Well it seems that there is variation to the interpretation of their corporate policy. I beleive this pissue has been resolved since 2008. Regarding the early termination fee: I'd tell them I'd bring it in tomorrow. Then I'd walk in with 15,800 pennies, loose, in a wheel barrow, pour them on the floor, and ask them to mail you the receipt.
Hi I am new to this group but I had gastric bypass July 1,2011 by Dr. McCloskey as well. I had lost 30# pre-op and 120 post-op.I recently gained back 29# and struggling to take it off. I attend no support groups but have been thinkig about joining weigh****chers How are you doing?
I had my surgery done at Barix Clinics in Langhorne in June,2009. The care there was excellent. I don't know anything about St. Mary's Bariatric program. Barix has support group meetings on the 1st Sat. of the month, 2nd Tues. of the month and 3rd Wed. of the month. I found them to be very helpful both as a pre-op and for the first three years after my surgery. Good luck with your journey, It is an amazing ride. I am in a very good place physically, mentally and spiritually because of taking the step to have RNY surgery. It has been one of the best decisions of my life.
