frustrated
Had my RnY on Oct 10. I lost 43 lbs in the first 3 months... and haven't lost a thing in the last 4 wks. Is this normal? I get my protein in, my fluids, and I use my gazelle everyday. When will I start to lose again... it seems like I will be stuck where I am at. 284.5 Jan 12 to 204 Jan 13.... 24W down to a regular 18. Because of the stalling, I am beginning to feel like I am 284.5 or the 24W.... Really, I feel FAT....
Breathe. 43 pounds in 4 months is AWESOME. When have you ever been able to do that before? Yes, I think what you are experiencing is normal. It's called a stall, and we've all gone through them. They are very frustrating, but if you keep doing the right things, your weight loss will start up again. Your body is going through so many changes. Good job reaching out. I'm sure others will post you some encouragement!!!

Oh, the stalls. Normal, yes. Easy, no.
Hard to tell how long yours will last but it is simply your body's way of adjusting and catching up with the new, smaller you. Every body system has to make adjustments, especially the endocrine system that regulates hormone production.
The way I looked at it is this: If I lost 43 lbs. every 3 months without a hitch...and we started at about the same size by the way...in 1 year I would have lost 172 lbs. What would be left?
Of course we all want the weight loss to happen NOW (if not YESTERDAY) once we are a post op, but the whole business is an exercise in patience, I tell ya.
Hang in and keep doing what you are doing!
