Support Group Subjects
Hi Eveyone: I am asking as a support group leader if there is any subjects that veterans like to talk about. My support groups I lead are people a year and more out. Because we do not have Bariatric Surgery in our local hospital we don't have an in flux of new members but have at least 20 faithful members in each group I lead. I always want to have fresh ideas. This month we are going to describe our journeys by songs that we may relate to. For instance when I was making my decision to have the surgery I always thought of the song by Diana Ross called "It's My Turn" and when I had complciations I heard "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus and now that I am almost 5 years out and recently had a Lower Body Lift I identify with " A Whole New World" by Peabo Byson. How about you what songs do you identify with and what other subjects would you like to see at your support group? I have had numerous speakers including a pharmacist who helped us learn about meds after bypass she was excellent, a GYN who talked about obesity and infertility and obesity and the connection to breast and ovarian cancer, a plastic surgeon, a dietician, a nutrition consultant who did a virtual tour of the grocery store she was excellent. an eating disorder specialist, a psyche nurse to work on the psyche and the bariatric advantage rep. Also, a gal from Dress for Success and she runs a consignment shop and gave us great discounts. Had a physiologist and the gal from Curves who gave everyone a free month. A PA from the Osteoporosis Clinic and warning us of the dangers we are now facing since the bypass and the prevention of osteoporsis. So, I have had a bunch of great subjects need some new ones for the new year. What are your suggestions?
