Encouraged by Progress

I just want to say a great big thank you to everyone who has supported me on my return to the OH boards and in my quest to battle re-gain.  It was hard to come back here and admit alcoholism, food addiction and a 45 pound regain.  I was encouraged to do so not just by things spoken to me, but also seeing others putting themselves and their reality out here.

I have re-lost 12 pounds since coming back here after a reality check at a doctor's appointment in late April.  12 pounds in 3 months sure doesn't feel the same as 60 in 3 months, but I'll take it!  I am going in the right direction, and have gotten back into Onederland.

I owe my success to SUPPORT.  Plain and simple.  OH, Barix and OA have helped me get back on track where it comes to food.  We do together what we cannot do alone.

For anyone who is struggling and just lurking, let me encourage you to jump in exactly where you are, and let the love, support and wisdom of this wonderful group of people restore you to sanity and help you accomplish you goals.

A special thank you to Laureen and Arlene for unending, never wavering personal support and dedication to in-person support for all bariatric surgery patients, and to Dennis for stepping down, because coming back to say good-bye to him is what actually brought me back to Barix!

Blessings, Jill

Jill,

Your struggles and continued perservance are what it is about and I thank Norm B for sharing a part of himself at the PA Pilgrimage that I attended in October 2007 a couple of weeks before my surgery.  I think had I not heard his story, I might not have been prepared for the possibility of the experience I, yourself and other's have had.  I did not realize it back then, but do now, that I really thought that WLS would solve my food issues by not allowing me the capacity to eat like I once did and also because so many have issues with surgary or fatty foods that I would not be able to regain my weight, which I found out is not the case.  So as we spoke about in support and between us, this battle is a lifelong commitment to doing what we know is the right thing and when we don't not to beat up on ourselves, but to get right back to it!!!

Thanks for coming back to support, it is wonderful to have you there, you bring a lot to the table, and it's not food (lol), food for thought is great!

Hugs, Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Jill,

Always remember that wherever you are, your sane brain is with you and you can navigate thru the storm to a calm port and be on the right course as long as your willing to let the sane brain speak the loudest.
