Sultry Saturday Roll Call
Yesterday sure was a hot, hot, hot day. It was nice working from home. Ran over to NJ to pick up stuff from my daughter, then stopped at the Deptford Mall to pick up my Nioxin - the beauty supply shop there is the cheapest place I've found. Even my hair dresser cannot get it for the price I pay there.
Today I have to work on my paper and PP that is due Monday. Gene and I have to straighten up the garage - I think he is picking up the Harley but not sure. I also have to find a place to pick up some German Potatoe salad for church tomorrow. I had expected to have been bringing in my pots and pans at this point and thought I'd be cooking again, but not yet, everything is still out in the shed and I can't find the pots and pans. So I'll have to purchase some somewhere.
Stay cool and hydrated and have a great day...

Yes it WAS hot yesterday!! We stayed inside and did some work on the basement and shredded a bunch of papers. Still many more to go!! Maybe I will do more today. Not much planned for during the day. Tonight I am going to Parx Casino to celebrate a friends birthday. I will be taking a nap today, didn't sleep well last night!
I am in love with our new kitty!! Last night I layed down on the sofa and she came up and curled up on my side and fell asleep! I woke her up and took her upstairs with me to bed. She slept with us for most of the night. She is so sweet!!
Have a great Saturday and keep cool and hydrated!!
Love to all, Beth

Both of my sisters had great financial news yesterday. My older sister found out that her pension payments for the last 3 years were underpaid so she's getting a big check on august 1 to catch up and my younger sister got her settlement costs for her house in Florida and it was much lower than they anticipated so now they're able to do more fix up work before moving in. I'm so happy for both of them! Hoping their good luck is rubbing off so stopped and bought a couple of lottery tickets on the way home - lol.
My brother is doing better mentally now that his treatments have started. He was getting very down because it was taking so long to get started. He's getting radiation on his spine and esophagus 5 times a week and chemo once a week. The benefit my niece is having for him is coming along well too - things are falling into place and I think she'll have a good turnout. Keeping our fingers crossed.
Not sure what's on tap for today - probably some more yard sale packing - getting rid of 'stuff' - I have way too much stuff!
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Laura,
I don't miss having to worry about Act 48 credits. Now that I am retired, and am a Licensed Social Worker, I do have to get 30 Continuing Ed hours every two years to keep my license, which I am responsible for paying for out of pocket. When I taught in Philly, the school district provided professional development. Plus, I did a lot of Governors Institutes, which gave me 2 free grad credits, and free room and board for the week of the institute. I did several social studies institutes which were very interesting. One was in Johnstown, one was in Pittsburgh and one was in Gettysburg. I was out of town the week they were in Philly, and I did not attend the one in Erie. They were the best in getting my Plus 60 for Senior Career Teacher in Philly.
How are you feeling? When are you due?
Hugs,
Trish

Sorry I am slow in posting today. I have been having a good day taking care of myself. I had been struggling with sugar ever since my alcohol relapse in '07, and it got ugly in the past month, so I went to an OA meeting I used to go to ages ago. After that, I stopped at an Amish Farmers Market and got supper for my sister and me, rotisserie chicken with all the fixins. My sister fell a few nights ago, and hurt her shoulder big time, right shoulder at that. She can't drive, and I dissed her by not taking her to her psychiatrist today. It was during my OA meeting time.
After dropping the meal off at her house, I stopped at Giant and picked up protein snacks and other healthy junk, like sugar free water ice and sugar free Klondike bars.
This afternoon, I went to an AA speakers meeting and was asked to speak. What a privilege. It helps me so much with my program.
Now, I am watching the Phillies game, where Utley hit a 3 run homer in the first inning. I named my dog well. It is horrendous out there in the heat. I am going to the game on Thursday night, and am hoping the heat dissipates to less hot, and less humid.
Tonight, nothing exciting, just knitting and crocheting, and coupon clipping for my daughter and me.
Stay cool and hydrated.
Hugs,
Trish
