Roll Call for Tuesday
Good Morning Pennsylvania,
I fell asleep before the end of the Phillies game....horrors!!! I did see most of it though. Allergies have me whacked out.
My interview went well. I do lack the case management experience they are looking for, but I have the willingness to work part time/per diem, and not insist on full time hours. She will let me know in about a week if I have the job. I am okay one way or the other. I am hopeful my daughter will ask me to move to Michigan to be her full time daycare, but I have dropped enough hints on that note.
Today has me tidying, and walking Utley. I also have an AA meeting to get to, and my baby blanket to complete, someday.
Hope everyone has a nice day.
Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish - I was just about to start roll call.
Interesting turn of events for me this evening. Charlie, my step-dad and Emily's caregiver, ended up having a TIA and is in the ICU at Nazareth. Crazy story - but I got a call from his wife about 9, crying hysterically that she didn't know where she was, how to get to a hospital that Charlie was having what she thought was a stroke. I immediately told her to pull over, call 911 and I would get hold of Larry. Poor thing wasn't even sure she knew where she was to even TELL 911. I told her what to say - got on the phone to Larry, told him where they were, and off I went to meet them. Charlie was OK when I got to him, The first ambulance was already there and as I was getting out of my car, Larry and his partner showed up.
I just need to throw in here, I know that I am partial because I am in love with one, but these paramedics, with their calm ways and knowledge base are something to behold. I don't even mean Larry - although I will sing his praises in a moment, the other medics who were there first, allowed me to handle Sheila and I got to see them do their thing as calmly as possible and had things WELL under control. They allowed Larry to do what he needed to do as Larry's partner came over to us, Sheila and I, to see what we needed and to explain what was happening. Now, obviously, normally there are not 4 medics at a scene, And with the way the city is cutting budgets, sometimes there is only 1 medic and 1 fireman who is literally there to drive the truck, however, tonight everything worked out well. Sheila knew something was wrong, tried to handle it herself, realized she was in way over her head and let the experts do their thing.
My husband, while drives me up a freaking wall....OFTEN...is amazing at his job. Besides the field work that I got to see him do, it is his FAther in Law after all, but when I got to the hospital, seeing these people talk with him and trust him and listen intently to him, it was amazing. He truly had the respect of the doctors and nurses at the hospital. They had no idea that I was his wife. Just someone who was with the patient. They eventually knew who I was, but in that moment of him doing his job he was professional and I have to say - looked DAMNED GOOD in his uniform with his hair a little messed. I know, "Get a room" HAHA! But, seriously, I am quite proud of this man!
Ok, anyway, they ruled what Charlie had a TIA, a mini-stroke of sorts. He was droopy and a little confused, but when I left about 20 minutes ago, was resting relatively comfortable. They had just given him his meds. Larry just texted me about 5 minutes ago that he was on his way to the ICU. I am waiting to hear if that is just precautionary. ICU seems like three VERY SCARY initials.
I will be headed up to bed shortly, with phone ringer on, so I am sure sleep will bejust lovely. I HAVE to go to school tomorrow. Had an attendance meeting with my dickhead principal today and therefore have to be there - I am soooo sure I will be an effective educator with just a few hours of sleep. My plans are obviously up in the air as to what the rest of the day will hold, I am sure taking the boy and girls to see their grandfather will be the order of the day.
Oh - and I did swim a little today. Trying to get back into getting back.
OY!
Happy Tuesday!

Steffi,
I am praying for Charlie, and for your family, as he gets the medical care he needs. Sorry about your attendance meeting. I was in many of them before retiring, and they contributed to my decision to apply for disability, and retire.
Take it easy.
Hugs,
Trish

Steffi, sorry to hear about Charlie. Glad Sheila was able to call you and that you were able to give her the information she needed to help him. Also glad that emergency personnel were able to get there in time to help.
Kudos to Larry for being an awesome paramedic and doing his thing, even when it involved someone so close to home.

Thoughts and prayers for Charlie and big hugs and strength headed your way!
I know ICU sounds scary but I am their biggest advocate. He will get the best care possible there. When my Mom had her colon resection a few years ago there were some issues and they sent her to ICU for a few days. AFter having a total mental and emotional breakdown in the waiting room one of our dearest friends (and the head of nursing at the hospital) pulled me aside and explained to me that ICU doesn't always mean something is tragically wrong, it just means that they want the patient to have 1 on 1 care and all the equiptment necessary to monitor them.

Sending support and healing thoughts your way for Charlie, Sheila (who has probably the hardest job of all), and your whole family. I concur on the yumminess of a man (in uniform) doing such a wonderful job and commanding respect... and Larry is, well, yummy even without that. Haha.
