Whacky for sure!! I was wide awake in Easton rocking a baby who didn't want to sleep! She went to bed like a champ at 8 and slept until 11:30, thats when the fun began. I was up rocking her for over an hour to try and get her back asleep in her crib, no dice. I laid her in bed with me and she was asleep in no lie 30 seconds. UGH! I didn't sleep well, worrying aboutbeing tired for work today because I have a big intricate project I have to work on with lots of math (Steffi, can you channel me some math smarts since you aren't teaching today?) so coffee will be my friend. Then the rest of the day is up in the air... wor****il 3:30 / 4 then home to hang with Mia, We are going to have a talk tonight about her being a big girl and sleeping in her crib... think it'll work? lol

You can channel ALL of my mathiness whenever you need it - even when I am actually ALLOWED to be teaching it! :) Good luck sweetie! :)

Good morning Steffi & PA!
Today is Caleb's 1st of 3 days of PSSAs and he is less than thrilled.  he has had a ton of homework this week and still isn't done.  They say get lots of rest for the tests and there will be no homework...well that is a load of crap.  He was up past 11 and it still isn't all done.  I feel that is way too late for a 6th grader to have to be up doing schoolwork the night before a PSSA or any night. Anyway...today is work then a birthday dinner out with the guys, then home to let Caleb do more homework.  Only 3 days until our stair climb in Philly and shopping...I do not know which I am more excited to do...LOL.  I think it was Beth that suggested we see the Comcast Center, well as it turns out it is accross the street from the stair climb at 3 Logan Center...cool.
Later...
Sara
PS:  It is cold & rainy here...yuk.

Only three days of PSSA'S?  Is that just this week and then three days next week?

And let me tell you something about educators who give homework and work like it is, "School as usual" - they are morons!  It is possible that that is the directive given from the district you are in - however, I would write a note to the teacher explaining that while you appreciate the importance of homework, your son is trying to be sure he is working to his potential for the PSSA , which will no doubt benefit her, and that he will not be completing his homework during the testing window unless he feels up to the challenge.

I know  I have said this before, however, I think at this time of year for ALL of our children it bears repeating, while standardized testing has a SMALL place in our education system, and SOME comparisons can be made, it is in NO way able to show the accurate assessment of what our children are learning.  As a parent AND as an educator I lose a lot of sleep during this time period.  I worry about my own children, Emily told me on Monday morning she was worried that she wouldn't do well on the test, yes - she is MY child, relatively confident about most things and is only 8!!!!!  And she was worried - I also worry about my students - that they really feel the pressure that my principal puts on us as teachers and therefore we put on them.  I try to loosen them up with casual attire - which I don't usually wear, cracking more jokes than usual, some bad btw, and reminding them over and over that they know this stuff!  However, sadly, I am also worried about me and my carreer - with what is happening in Wisconsin and Collective Bargaining going out the window - we as teachers are going to be graded on how well our students test.  While it is NOT acceptable, it is somehow passing in the legislation and the best we can do is get our kids as ready as they can be and hope for the best.

Sorry for this long-winded response.  I love what I do - I have a passion for my kids and their education and expect LOTS from them, (Students and my three), and this is just one more thing that I have very little control over and will fight as best I can to keep MY kids comfortable!

Good luck Sara - and keep being his advocate!  You are doing ABSOLUTELY the right things for him! :)

Good Morning Steffi and PA!!

Happy Wacky Wednesday!!

Today is wor****il 3:30 then home to watch my soap. Dee will be dropped off at home by our neighbor, then I have to take her to the doctor. She has been having nose bleeds at school. Do not know what is up with that?? It was kind of wacky yesterday, dealing with more girl drama with Dee and her friends!! I thought I had a couple more years before this crap happened!! I will unfortunately miss Barix tonight due to said doctor appointment, but I will be there in spirit.

HUGS to all!!!!

Love, Beth

Morning Steffi.. hope you are up and on your way to school by now.. Siehara is on day 2 of her PSSA's.. fun stuff

Today has me working til 3:30 per usual.. We have a team meeting today... nothing weird, just a typical biweekly meeting.. They are always fun.. NOT.

After work, let's see.. it's Wednesday right?  Siehara does NOT have tutoring today because her tutor is out of town.  SO.. we are going to head to the library so Siehara can return some books and get new ones.  She also wants to see if the library has a color printer so she can do some project research and printing.  I have a color printer, but cannot connect it to the netbook (or at least I don't know how to) and I have not had a chance to pick up my PC yet.

After the library, we will head to the gym.  I know I am going to the Body Combat class at 6:30.  I am not sure what I am going to do before that.  I am considering doing the Group Treadmill class at 5:30, or I may just do some basic treadmill or bike work as a warm up for the class.  I don't think strength training is a good idea before that class because quite frankly my arms and legs are still sore from Monday's class so there must be muscle building going on.

Home from the gym and bed.

Somewhere in there, before the gym, we will have dinner.

Have a great day everyone!!

Me too slept most of the day yesterday after my training. The could not sleep last night because of that and because my mind was racing with things that need to be done, and about my meeting with our Director this morning. meeting at 9am keep me in your thoughts. I can lose my cool pretty easy so I need to remain calm and professional.

Hope you have a good day mine will be better after this mess is over
