Hello new
Hi all my name is Cheryl. I found this site from the back of my surgeons instruction book. I am having rny 4/1/11.
I am a mom to 4 beautiful kiddos. I have 3 boys and a girl. I have always been overwieght my whole life. Last yr when I was put on pressure meds it was my wake up call. I am only 36 and on meds..NOT ok. SO I called the local womens hospital and got the ball rolling. I have finished all my classes and meetings and now just have to have my pre-op which is next week and I have to get a physical from my pcp and then its waiting till the 1st.
I want to be around for my kids so that I can watch them grow up. Heck I wanna be able to chase them in the park when we go instead of sitting watching all the fun.
I have some nervous moments thinking about what I am about to do. But then I think about what will happen if I don't and I calm down. Or James my husband tlaks me down off the ledge as he says.

Hi Cheryl - welcome to the BEST board on this site - of course, I don't really know any of the other ones, but whatever! The next few weeks will no doubt have you all over the place emotionally, we have ALL been there. You are making an amazing choice for you, yor husband and your children! Congrats! Feel free to ask any questions and someone here will be able to give you some sort of answer. And BTW<, April fools day was my original date but it got moved one day early - so it is an AWESOME day to have surgery!

I'm from Altoona and just had my RNY on 3/4/2011. If you have a good support system everything will go smoothly. So I'm not talking to the same people day in and day out my "support" chose days. Becky takes Mondays and Thursdays, Gretchen takes Tuesdays, Fridays and I see her in church on Sundays. Carol has Wednesdays and Saturdays. There's a few more people who visit or call when they can. Everyone talks to everyone else. God Bless

Welcome and congratulations on making a courageous and positive choice. If you have (like me) been overweight your entire life, you'll find a whole new world opening up for you. My only regret is that I didn't do this much sooner!
