So - a while ago people were mentioning gifts they bought their daughters when they first got their period.  Who was it and what was the gift?  I am happy to announce that I am ready to now buy Molly a gift.  (And I miss my mom - sooooo want to share this with her!)

I have told you peeps before I even told my MIL....(And my dad for that matter......)

um pads.. that's all I bought.. and she was allowed to wear her makeup OUT of the house.

I followed the rule of thumb my mom did.. she could wear make up either when she got her period or at her Bat Mitzvah, whichever came first.

Mazel Tov to Molly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah - that is a given...ha ha ha!  She will be getting a make-over for her Bat Mitzvah and I will buy her make-up then - it is only a month away.  Someone had mentioned some peice of jewelry I think - and I remember loving the idea - but don't remember exactly what it was.  I am hoping that person, Kathy maybe, or was it Karen?  Don't know - will have some idea!

Hey Steffi,

YEAH MOLLY!!! I would give her the every problem us women have begin with "MEN", menstration, menopause, putting up with men's s***!!! LOL!!! My first period story is kind of funny but sad....I was visiting my brother and sister in law in St. Louis over the summer, I believe I was 13. That is when mother nature decided to come....my mom was SO upset that she wasn't there for me!! I didn't even know what it was....and yes I had had the period speech in girl scouts and in school you would think I would have known.DUH!!

I don't know about any  special presents....I know I didn't get anything. I would think the makeover for her Bat Mitzvah would be enough, but maybe you could go out to a nice place for lunch together, something grown up.

Welcome to womanhood Molly!!

Love, Beth

My mom gave me a Cake that said congrats. From there on.........my period and sweets became sononymous. He he!

I don't know what you think, but maybe a charm braclet. One charm to represent this moment. Then you can add ones for major life changes in the future. I would like to do that for Riley. No Willy Nilly charms, only significant steps in life.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

So tell me again why its a good idea to let them them wear make-up out of the house once they are able to make babies?    Im not getting the connection. Just sayin.
