A comparison and a Wow moment (3 years out!)
Something just occurred to me. Somehow, I thought that gastric bypass surgery would "cure" my food addiction. I've been frustrated to find that is not the case and I still struggle with that addiction. Just moments ago it dawned on me that gastric bypass surgery is like when the alcoholic finally puts down the bottle. It is the beginning of recovery, not the end.
Now, for my wow! Although I've had some weight regain and frustration, it seems that a lot of my problem is the body image in my head, because we took a lot of video this Christmas and on watching the videos, while I joke about the fact that I will be wearing a push-up bra under my p.j.'s next Christmas morning, I was not embarrassed or horrified by my overall appearance, and my butt looked pretty darn good! LOL.
