restaurant recommendation

Tonight, we tried a new place in Doylestown and I'd like to heartily recommend it to all of you!  It's called "Honey" and it's right around the corner from the courthouse.  What makes it worth the recommendation is that it's all "small plate" dining - an approach similar to tapas, but a much more eclectic menu.  For us WLS-ers, it provides a great dining experience with "our" sized entrees or, better yet, the ability to eat a bite of a bunch of different and wonderful tastes.

This is "adventurous" food - combinations of very surprising tastes and textures - most of it is locally sourced (all American wines, all PA beers, for example) and very freshly prepared.

My favorite dish tonight, as an example was a Tuna Ceviche - made of Sushi Grade Yellowfin Tuna, Ruby Grapefruit, Icicle Radish, Crushed Cashews, Shiso, and Chilled Green Tea Noodles.  It was WONDERFUL.

It's very small, romantic, and I'd say that reservations are required for weekends.  They do private parties, and that might be something for us all to keep in mind for future gatherings!  www.honeyrestaurant.com/

We will DEFINITELY be going back!

the small plates ran from $5 up to $26 (we didn't get any of the higher priced ones, but the server said they're more like a traditional entree size)...

a couple of other things...

"hot and dirty rice" - Spicy Shaved Beef Tenderloin, Andouille Sausage, Roasted Bell Peppers, Green Onions, Cilantro

"autumn crab cake" - Crisp Curry Scented Maryland Crab Cake, Clementines, Marcona Almonds,
Lobster-Pumpkin Puree, Hot Cinnamon Oil

"salmon tacos" - Spice Rubbed Scottish Salmon, Soft Corn Tortillas,Sweet Corn & Charred Poblano Relish, Black Truffle-Huitlacoche Crema

"edamame hummus" - Pickled Jalapeno and Cucumber Relish, Cilantro Sprouts, Wonton Chips

"shrimp martini" - Laughing Bird Shrimp Tempura, Sour Apple, Avocado Salsa, Salted Peanuts, Wasabi Caviar

they also have "American Artisanal Cheeses" which you can get as an entree plate of either 3 or 6 (you get the day's menu and get to pick) OR as a dessert.  It's accompanied by Tomato Marmalade, Roasted Peppers, Tapenade,  and Glazed Walnuts as an entree or minces and jams as dessert.

There's about 30 or more items like these on the menu.  One item on the dessert menu that I HAVE to try to make (I skipped dessert but salivated over their dessert menu!) is homemade goat cheese-raspberry ice cream!

OK - enough food porn for one night ;-)
