Manic Monday Roll Call

Good Morning Pennsylvania,
I am home from my trip, and saddened that I had to leave my beautiful grandchildren and their parents.  It was a wonderful week of play, babysitting, and craft activities.  We made Christmas tree ornaments, a gingerbread house and handprint plaques.  My daughter is an extremely busy working mother, and I tried to help her with the housework as much as possible as well.

While away, I did have an issue with the sugar.  I had to have a fix, every single day, and it was not just one bite either.  Somehow, I think I lost weight in spite of it.  I am just scared, because with the holidays fast approaching, there will be many opportunities to totally sabotage my efforts and really gain the weight.

Well, Monday has me heading to my storage unit to get my Christmas decorations and tree, and start decorating my apartment.  I don't have any large hosting responsibilities this holiday season, but I will decorate none-the-less.  I love putting up my tree, and did not do it last year, because I moved the day after Christmas a year ago.

I will also be unpacking, and taking my suitcases to the storage unit, as they take up a ton of space, and I need more room in my apartment these days.

Have a great day.

Hugs,
Trish

Morning Trish.. glad to see you back and that you had a nice week with the family.  I'm having similar issues with sweets.. sugar free, but still addiction to say the least.

This morning has started off with a few cookies too many.  I bought sf cookies for the truffles I am going to make for Liz's Saturday.. I ate the cookies.  Now, I am in a carb induced pity party for myself.  I can't seem to get on track with my eating and I'm really not sure why.  I always seem to be hungry and can't seem to get full.  I know part of it is that I'm not eating the right food so I am trying to get back on track starting NOW.  I have a roast in the crock pot that will help me to get my protein in in a good, filling way.  Hoping this will make it easier to "go to" this over the next few days than to go to whatever is in my fridge/cabinets.

So, today I am working til whenever.. 3:30-4:30.. who knows.  We have 5 hours of mandatory OT this week but I didn't find out until after I started working at 7, so I didn't get the early morning hours in.  I plan to take Siehara to the teen center when she gets home, but 2 of her friends who were going there are now not allowed there b/c one of then was caught shoplifting and the other stood up for her.  So, now they are both banned from there and can only go to a different one.  I'm not sure if she is still going to want to go now that her friends are not there.  We'll see.

We'll have dinner and light candles and give Siehara her present tonight at some point.

Tonight, I'll head to the gym for some serious cardio in either spin or zumba.  I'll also do some strength training on abs and either legs or arms depending on which cardio class I take.   I am thoroughly convinced that if I was not so diligent about the gym that I would have gained back a ton of weight with the way I have been eating.. sigh.

I think I was supposed to have a Sisterhood meeting tonight, but it's not on my calendar and since I didn't send out the reminder email ahead of time I'm going to assume that nobody else will show.  I'll send an email out today letting my board know that the meeting will be next week, instead.

Just a gentle push from Swede.  Dont buy the cookies for Saturday a week ahead of time.  You're setting yourself up.  Surround yourself with the good foods...the ones that actually fill you up.  The second thing to think about after you only have good food around is to actually plan out you meal allowance for the day.  Dont get caught wondering what you're gonna eat.  You know how that ends.

I know you can do it!!!!!  Good job putting yourself out there.

Thanks Swede.. I put myself out here because I knew you guys would kick my ass.

I bought them while I was in the store because I was there and I knew I needed them.  I even told Siehara not to touch them because I needed them for a recipe.  Sheesh..

I have the pork roast in the crock pot now so that will get me through the next few days of meals.  I also bought meat, chicken, etc at the store and will be cooking things that I can freeze so I am not wandering around the kitchen.

Spinach-chicken bake is next on the list to cook.  I also found some chili in my freezer that I can eat.

It's amazing what you can actually find in your house when you look for it.

I WILL get back on track.

No sarcasm here Swede - YES - I CAN do that! - this is very sound advise!  One that I need to follow as well - not that I cook mind you - but Larry does and I try to get things that he will need ahead of time and then realize that I will have to go back out and get it again anyway for him to use becuase we have already eaten it.

Good Morning Pa, and Trish,
So glad you had a good visit with the grandchildren, and their parents.  I guess I count myself lucky as I get to see mine every week when I do the baby sitting gig, while Mom and Dad work.

Today has me once again packing to head back to Md. to take care of the kids.  Lisa does not work tonite, so a trip to OC Md and take the kids to ride the train to see the lights is in the plan. (although it is really cold)  Trying to get all the stuff together to take to Tn for Christmas.  Being the thrifty person that I am, I will try to purchase all the food stuffs and anything else I need up here, as the tax on everything down there is 10%.  I do drive thru De. on the way to my daughters, and may just stop at the Walmarts down there and pay no tax.  (why didn't I think of that before???)  Also a trip to the bank, and Aldi's before I go to Md.  That's about it for me.  Have a good day all, and try and stay warm.
Hugs, Ena

Good morning PA!

I was up early and at a 6 am Zumba class. Now home, and back in the "force myself into work mode" mode. For the last couple of months I had resolved to "make the best of" my job - and I will  because it is the means to an end for us - but....yuck.

OK whining is over!

Have a good day eveyone!

Good morning Trish - so glad your visit went well with the family.  Sorry for the sugar things.......I am worried that the further out I get the closer I get to trying something....I actually had a dream that I ate 1/2 a donut (We had a ton last night for Hanukkah that did not seem to bother me conciously) and my kids actually said - "Hey Mom - why are you eating that?!?!"  In my dream I forgot that I was not to be eating sugar.  weird!  I guess even my subconcious is concerned about sugar intake as well!

I am sitting at school, not sure how I got up this morning.   Had over 30 people at my house last night for a festive and chaotic Hanukkah dinner with enough wrapping paper to wallpaper most of my house....The kids all had a blast.  We had 4 new kids join us this year with my step-dad remarrying and my cousin moving in with her boyfriend and his two kids.  So - it was a lot of fun.  And I loved that Beth and Dennis felt comfortable enough to come over and find out what all the crazy was all about - although - I am thinking they just wanted to taste Larry's potato latkes - which, BTW - were AMAZING!!!!!!!  I had three and they were totally spaced out through the night.  AND....and I am pretty excited about this - I ate my protein first....then I allowed myself a latke - yay me! :)

Anyway - today I am at school, going to teach Dreidle to the one class that I did not yet teach it to and then after school I am DEFINITELY headed to the pool.  I have no excuses today - there is no dance tonight and no other out of the house activities.  I will still get home about 5ish and that is WITH going to the pool.  So I am actually looking forward to that!

I hope your Monday is happily Manic and completely manageable!
