Dr. Boe is leaving Barix

Just wanted to get the message out to anyone that has had Dr. Boe as a surgeon.  Found out at the Saturday support group that Dr. Boe's last day will be on Dec. 10th.  He is going back to to Indiana?Idaho? or someplace in the Midwest.  This is where he is from originally and the nurses told me that he was originally only came East for 2 years but ended up staying an extra year.

Dr. Marymore is returning to Barix so I know that there are a lot of people who will be happy about that.  Needless to say I will miss Dr. Boe.  Barix will be different without Dr. P and Dr. Boe.  Have heard some good things about Dr. Medvetz and know that Dr. Marymore's patients rave about him.

All of this happened on Friday so the Barix nurses didn't even know that he was leaving.  Wanted all of the "Boe Babies" to know that our guy is going to be out of here.  I figured if I sent a card to Barix that they would forward it to him if it gets there too late.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

As a Dr Boe baby this saddens me greatly but I am not totally surprised by the news after hearing Dr P was leaving because I thought the had come into Barix around the same time.

It's funny how attached we get to our bariatric surgeons but we do. I know I won't get to Barix to say good-bye to him but I will miss him terribly.

Yes this is a sad day indeed.

Hi Debbie,

From what we learned yesterday Dr. Boe's last day is December 10th.
This is not official mind you but it's what we heard. I would imagine that Barix will be contacting his patients that are affected by this news.

 Hi Debbie,
I heard that Dr. Boe will be performing all of his scheduled surgeries this week, but I am sure that someone from Barix will be contacting you.

Beth,

Contracts are up in December so that's why this is happening with Dr. Boe.  I found out that Dr. P was an "independent contractor" and not an employee of Barix.  She sort of rented office space from them,  That is what the nurses told me yesterday.  Also they said Dr. P likes to move around in her jobs - I don't know where she worked before but they didn't seem too surprised to hear about her leaving.  I think that Dr. Boe is going back to the Barix where he was originally - not absolutely certain is that is the case.  I do know that he will be back in his home area.  It was a bummer yesterday to hear this but I do know that Dr. Marymore's patients adore him and it seems that Dr. Medvetz is nice do I guess I'll have to see if we get to choose or if they just assign us a new surgeon.

Happy Hanukkah BTW.  Missed seeing you yesterday.  Don't know if there will be a January meeting or not so I might not see you until February.  Have a good holiday season.  Take care.

Love, Donna

I was at last month's post op support when Dr. P came in to say goodbye. It was anything but a happy decision for her, motivated by some financial realities more than anything else. She has always been in the NY/NJ/ PA area, so a move to Kentucky will be a dramatic change for her. She will be re-starting a bariatric practice in Paducah than has faltered since the main surgeon there departed.

I am surprised to hear Dr. Boes news but am glad that his replacement has such a great reputation. Personally, I may check into shifting over to Dr Braders practice since he is much closer to me....but will still attend Barix support when I can, even if I do make the change. You are right, they loyalty and deep connection is surprising.
