What you said jives with what the nurse in the hospital explained about daily consumption being okay, but not altering it greatly.
Right now, I just want to see how I do for a week just on the coumadin. I have a bruise the size of Montana on my abdomen from the Lovenox injections. When I had the gastric bypass surgery, I had spots across my abdomen, because I am not as adept at injecting myself as you nurses are at injecting me. Unfortunately, being on blood thinners just made the bruises all run together and spread. I look like a battered wife, and I live alone with a ADHD dog.
My INR was good enough to stop the Lovenox on Friday, so I am going to get rechecked next week and see how I do with following the discharge instructions. The funny thing is, my sister knows the dietary instructions because she has been on coumadin for over ten years, and she bought me some of Wegmans New England Clam Chowder while I was in the hospital. ARGH! I told her to freeze it till Mom comes to town. If I lived near a Wegmans, I would eat that daily with no problem. Closest Wegmans is too far away for me.
