And I remain of the stubborn opinion that no long-term weight maintenance program is complete without regular exercise.

Your mileage may vary!

But give it some consideration if you're not.

I really think OH should have LIKE button!! I second that. You are like 7 years out and know what you are talking about. Good and Bad. Don't ever change. Keep it real...

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

I totally, whole-heartedly, 100% agree with Norm, Shilpa, and Karen! I know I wouldn't be where I am now without it!

Eileen,

The 5DPT doesn't have to be all about protein shakes, and it's not meant to make you "lose weight.'  It's about getting your head back into the game and resetting your outlook and your trust in your tool.  If protein shakes are a problem, do soups instead (just add some greek yogurt to them to up the protein content).  The point is to have self-discipline and control and to realize that you are NOT truly physically "hungry" when eating as you are supposed to eat with this tool.  That should help you get to the point where you can recognize head hunger, boredom hunger, frustration hunger, and all of the other disordered eating patterns that many of us have.

Don't let that be an excuse to not face this down and take it seriously.  You can do this - you already HAVE done it once.  And you'll have tons of support on here to do it again.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record at this point with everyone else.  I'm 3 years out on Saturday.  And yep, I've got the 15 pounds to prove it as well.

Everyone is 100% correct.  You need to get back to basics.  Easier said than done.  I can eat more as well...but that's supposed to happen.  You're not expected to be able to eat only a few ounces at a time for the rest of your life....but you're also not expected to eat a whole pizza either.

I struggle BIG time with the weight regain.  And it's easier said than done.  I test the waters, more frequently as of late.

The exercise thing - HUGE HUGE HUGE component.  And although I have always been active since surgery, I have since changed up my routine.  I literally JUST started the couch to 5k program.  Before this I was doing spin class and weights w/ a personal trainer.  But my body needs the change.  I'm still doing the spin classes because I LOVE LOVE LOVE them and they ARE a good work out.  But I'm adding the jogging to "confuse" my body a bit more.

Hang in there...we will all do this together!
