OT: Some prayers for Kaity, please?
If there has ever been a group of people with a never-ending supply of prayers it has to be all of you guys, so I would like to call on you again for some much-needed prayers for someone very special to me.
It's Kaity - she's my 'step' granddaughter, altho I'm the only grandmother she's ever known on her mother's side, so I'm just grandma to her. Kaity is turning 15 and has scoliosis and has had it all her life. She's worn a brace since infancy (probably - right now I don't remember) and the doctors had hoped that as she went thru puberty it would begin to straighten - but sadly today at the doctor's office they found out that her curve is worsening and quickly, so they want to do surgery on her spine in December over Christmas break.
Of course my step-daughter Gail is a mess right now - she called crying and is so frightened for Kaity - she has 4 children but Kaity is the youngest and only girl. Gail was scheduled to have a hysterectomy over Christmas break but is going to postpone that now because of Kaity's worsening condition.
I'm sure Kaity will be fine - they live in the Valdosta, Georgia area and the doctors are sending her to specialists at a children's hospital in the Atlanta area. But I know Gail and Kaity and the rest of the family could use some extra prayers right now to give them strength to face this.

A girl I knew in high school had this same surgery done. And she was a cheerleader too. She had it done her senior year over Christmas break as well- they waited till then because she was so short they wanted to make sure she was done growing so they wouldn't have to do it again... I know she missed the first week back because of ice storms and them not wanting to risk her falling. And this was all done in the early 90s... so I am sure that they are even more awesome about this surgery... but will be praying for her and your daughter!

My best friend growing up had to have surgery. I remember her being in a body cast for an entire summer, that was back in the 60's. My oldest daughter also was diagnoised with this, however, she outgrew it. Having been so close to this in the past and with my own child I can understand how your daughter is feeling.
