5K today
I ran the Komen Race for the Cure 5 k today. It was my first 5k. My goal was to finish under 42 minutes which is an average of 14 minute miles. I have been able to pull high 14s through training. I surprised myself and finished in 40minutes and 40 seconds which was just over 13 minutes per mile. I really enjoyed it and am so excited to be able to say I completed my first 5k. I am 10 months out and would never have imagined attempting this 10 months ago!
Then, after spending some time with friends and walking their sick 10 month old back and forth while watching the Baltimore/Pittsburgh game (the only think that kept her quiet and happy for 3 hours), I came home and push mowed my Mom's yard for 2 hours so that it was done. It used to take me over 4 hours to push mow her yard with multiple stops so that I could regain my breath, etc.
What a great day.

Way to go Dawn!! That is a fantastic time and you were able to keep going and do other physical stuff afterwards with no after effects. That is just wonderful!!
My first 5K is on October 16. My timed mile was 13:34. I don't know if I can keep up that pace for the whole run, but I am just determined to finish the thing!! I think 45 minutes is a good goal for me to set for myself, just knowing how my knee has been feeling lately.
Kudos to you!!
