Shilpa Update!
Hi Folks,
I know, I'm very rarely ever here, but all who know me know the situation around the health situation I've been dealing with which is easily called "RSD", but is much harder to deal with than to spell. Thanks to the folks who drop by and type for me, or I'd have never gotten this post up!!
I wanted to stop by and update you all on Shilpa. She's been feeling really, really bad lately, with very high levels of fatigue, pain associated with what she's attributing to her RA but it's radiating into her back as well, and a very poor appetite for food or water. She's been in bed for almost a week and really was feeling terrible, so she went and had some labs drawn. I was speaking with her yesterday when her doc's office called to report a partial lab report. The report showed some legitimate concerns about her kidney functions. Shilpa decided, very correctly, that it was time to act, and she headed out to St. Mary's Medical Center. Thankfully, she is still there and will likley remain there until after the weekend, according to her doctors. Her doc is demanding that she eats and hydrates well. She is receiving excellent pain management and they are almost anticipating her needs before she realizes them! Kudos to the St. Mary's staff!!
She is staying in room 16-B and her cell phone is on. If you would like to call or visit, she is definitely up for it, but please use your best judgement is not going too early or too late, or of course in staying too long. Do the same when calling, but she really needs the support, so call her, please!! If you need her cell info, call me at 215-513-1210 (home) anytime between 10a-9p.
Let's help Shilpa in trying to remember that she is the FARTHEST thing from a burden, but rather is FAMILY to us. We are all in this thing called "life" together, and that it's one big process called "successing". It's tough sometimes, but we can make it toghether. You lean on me and I'll lean back, remember? Keep your thoughts and prayers with Shilpa until her lab values normalize and she feels valued as well
Thanks everyone, and I miss you all every minute of everyday-not kidding.
Love,
Shauna

Thanks so much for posting this Shauna - I've been wondering where she was - she had mentioned that she wasn't feeling well. Would you please e-mail me her cell phone - I'll text her first before calling, but she is always so concerned about everyone else (me included) that I want to make sure she knows I'm thinking of her.
Thanks again...Kathy
Thanks again...Kathy
Kathy,
Thanks for your concern about our friend, Shilpa. You're exactly right that Shilpa very often thinks of others before herself; it's just in her nature! We need to help her to understand that self-nurturing is a requirement, or the self might just get up and take a hike! Thanks for your friendship and concern-oh, and you have a OH PM with her cell #.
Take care,
Shauna

Shauna,
It's great to hear from you, but I'm so sorry to hear about how Shilpa's doing. The last communication I had from her actually sounded like she was feeling better, so this is disappointing to say the least! I will do my best to stop by there tomorrow (at worst, Sat morning).
You are quite right - she is a valued member of this community, which is really like a family... we all support each other and in so doing support ourselves.
I hope you're doing better, too... and the offer still stands for whatever i can do to help you!
Gentle hugs...
