what do you use for pain relief? i bought liquid tylenol and looked and it has corn syrup. I called them and they looked it up and there is 12grams of high fructose corn syrup in each dose. when i looked at the tylenol melt aways they have a high dose of dextrose. so what can we use?

Ugghhh----Tylenol!   I was an ADVIL addict for 20 years before RNY surgery, and had a harder time giving up ADVIL than I did sugar!!

But I now use Extra Strength Tylenol Rapid Release Gels.   They also make an Equate brand too.  (cheapie Econo-buy knock off, sold at Walmart or CVS).

They seem to work for me!

Cheryl - STEP AWAY FROM THE LIQUID TYLENOL NOW!! LOL!!

You are much smarter than I was because I bought it post-op to help with some severe back pain I was having, took it and dumped big time - it was horrible and my first dumping experience, so I didn't know what was happening at first. I never even thought to look for sugar content in something like that - now I look for it in everything (and still manage to dump at times...see yesterday's post).

Anyway, maybe you can take a pill cutter and cut the Tylenol tablets down to a smaller, more easily swallowed size?

I use extra strength Tylenol in caplet form. Depending on "what ails you" it may or may not be as effective as Advil...but it does okay.

For joint or muscle pain, I also use a hot pad and/or ice packs.

Cheryl,

I used liquid tylenol right after my RNY and I was fine with it? That is kind of scary that I didn't dump from all of that sugar?? I am going to ignore that thought that just came into my head( the one that says to stop off for that hershey bar on the way home from work) Gotta find that protein bar!!!

Anyway, I use tylenol caplets. They are small and slide down easily....

Hope that helps....

Beth

My surgeon gave me a prescription for sugar free liquid tylenol.  We should use SF products according to him.
