Thunder Thighs Thursday Work-Outs!
Good morning all - hey, 4 days in a row for me! Woo-Hoo!!
And not that I have 'thunder thighs' but those babies were burning on the bike this morning - didn't have as much time (okay, I'll fess up - hit the snooze one extra time) so I decided to go for a more intense ride than mileage - still went almost 6 miles but felt like I was riding up Mount Misery! Was soaked by the time I was done, so it was a good one.
Anybody else moving on this miserable Thursday??

Tonight at "commit to be fit" we started out with 5 minutes on the treadmills, then moved right into strength training, primarily upper body. Did dips, bicep curls, back pulls, chest presses while laying on an exercise ball (TOUGH to do!), then moved downstairs for more ab work. Planks, hyperextension machine, plank rollers with feet on the ball, and "pass the ball" crunches. Finally moved back upstairs for 20 minutes at a 7 exertion level on the recumbent bike. Finished up with stretching.
I have to say - one more week to go and I do feel significant change in my endurance and strength. In particular, I noticed tonight that holding a plank for a minute was not nearly as tough as it was when i started this class 3 weeks ago. Weights that I've worked with various things have moved up to keep the challenge up, and I've posted personal best times in the mile and 500m row in the past couple of days, even while fatigued. I'm impressed by the program and am thinking that doing it a couple of times a year (if I can afford it) will be a great way to retain momentum in my fitness plan. And it's been surprisingly fun, even if I do grouse about it at times.
Looking forward to next week - plan to work out Sunday morning, just not quite sure what i'll be doing yet.
