Movin' & Groovin' Exercise Wednesday!
Good morning all - well my commitment to get out here and post the morning exercise thread is key in helping me climb out of my nice warm bed at 4:30 AM and get on that bike!
Rode 6+ miles this morning in 28 minutes, so I'm getting a little stronger and faster every morning - feels great! Tonight a long walk with the dog before the rains come (hopefully).
Anybody else shaking their booty this morning??

not moving this morning, but will be moving tonight.. Hopefully the weather will hold up so we can do our entire First Strides workout. The 5K is coming up!!
If it's nice enough out, I will be at First Strides, if not, I'll hit the gym to do the workout---even though I really don't like the treadmill lately. If I can, I'd like to go to yoga, too. I can only do yoga if there is no First Strides.

Heading back to "commit to be fit" tonight... last night was agility and damn near killed me. Had to drive home with the windows open! Found an intereting competitive streak i didn't know i had while running suicides... was NOT going to be beaten (except by the 16-year-old, but that's different - she's an athlete... none of the other women were going to beat me). And I wasn't! :-).
I think tonight will be upper body strength work primarily, but am not sure.

So tonight's workout was quite a bit different than any of the others. We warmed up on the ellipticals for a hard 5 minutes, then moved to the carpeted room and worked on our muscles with hard foam rollers (which i've never used before)... was kinda like a painful deep tissue massage, but really loosened things (apparently, it's the one thing that you SHOULD feel pain when you do). Then we used yoga straps to do extra stretching and flexibility things... then moved back upstairs to the group ex room and did a bunch of things on the bosa (the half-ball inflated thingie) - squats and jumps. Followed up using a glide pad under one foot to do lateral lunges, and then regular lunges with weights held over our heads. Finally moved back downstairs for cardio... did 500 m on the rower as fast as we possibly could (i did 2:12! personal best), then without recovery time moved to the treadmills and ran a mile as fast as possible (again, a personal best 12:12). Cooled down and stretched.
Tomorrow night's upper body. Can't wait.

Good idea to post an update on the success of the exercise, Karen.
Tonight at First Strides they told us we were going to do the timed mile again. I was not too thrilled about it because I was tired and my knee was bothering me. I took it easy in the beginning knowing the mile was coming. When we got to the point where we were starting the mile, I was ready to go!
Last time we did it was about 6 weeks ago, I think. That time, I did it in 15:57. I remember only doing a bit of jogging and a lot of hard walking. This time I did it in 13:34!!!! I also jogged for most of it!!! I did go down to a hard walk at one point, but only enough to catch my breath and pick it up again. I knew if I kept up with the mentor at the front who was doing the timing, that I was good to go!
I am so proud of myself for being able to do it. And even though I don't particularly enjoy the running part, I did enjoy the challenge!!
