Ok, so last night I went to the sushi in the sukkah party at one of the synagogues.
I had the tiniest bit of brown rice--probably not even a tsp, around 7:00.  I mostly ate the sashimi parts, you know salmon, tuna, white fish.  Also ate some salad.

Had yogurt with granola around ...midnight.. 1AMish got up to go to bathroom, felt
sweaty/shakey/dizzy, held onto door.. woke up with my head in Siehara's doorway and my feet in the hallway and my toe hurt like hell.

Think it was too long after the rice for that kind of reaction. I've had the yogurt/granola combo before. Something similar happened Sunday after drinking a larger than normal quantity (still not a lot) of the chocovine mixed with banana, only I sat down as soon as I felt dizzy and ate a banana and it passed after a few minutes.

Is this reactive hypoglycemia? Definitely has the same symptoms as Mary described to me about her sugar dropping, and she warned me after the wine incident about the passing out part of it.

Yes, I will be calling my surgeon today.  But, of course I want to hear from all of you.   Think I scared myself straight... not that I really ate anything "wrong", but maybe it's time to just cut out those damn carbs once and for all.

Could have been a combination of the rice and granola mixing together - I am very, very careful with rice because its reacted badly on me so I try to avoid it - and granola usually has a lot of sugar plus its pretty coarse in texture - do sugars bother you? When my sugar drops I get shaky and sweaty and somewhat nauseaus but have never gotten to the pass-out point - definitely contact your doctor.

Oh, I did get a bottle of the chocovine - very good - I see that as an after-dinner treat for me, tho - way too sweet to be sucking down all night!

Hope you're feeling better.

I was thinking about the combination, too, but didn't know since they were so far apart.

rice was around 7 and granola around midnight.. weird.  And it was brown rice and only less than a teaspoon.   I haven't had any other rice since surgery so it could have been that??

Could have been a lot of things - and then again could have just been a case of what Pam calls 'Prissy Pouch' - I know after 2.5 years mine still has a mind of its own - something I could eat last week just fine might throw me into foamies or dumping this week - sometimes I can eat more and sometimes a few bites of food and I'm stuffed.

The passing out part is the scary part, tho - when did you last have bloodwork done? Your blood pressure taken? Might be smart to make an appt with your PCP or surgeon just to go over some of that stuff.

I tried some of the sf granola someone on here recommended but that didn't sit well in my pouch at all - just too fibrous or something - dense foods don't work well with me at all.

last time I had my full work up blood work must have been at my year...around February.  I went to the "new" surgeon in June.  It probably is time to get it checked.  I will call them as soon as they open to get an appointment so we can figure out what is up.  If they can't get me in, then I will go to my PCP.  I'd rather go to the surgeon though, since it could be related and because they have the dietitician there.

Sounsd like how I get with carbs on occasion. It can also be a blood pressure thing - were you dehydrated? I would say it was way too long for it to be the rice but I wouldn't rule out the yogurt/granola. They both have carbs and can get you.

Be careful and good luck hun!

I've never passed out, but have gotten that type of feeling from Malitol.  Did you have a different type of yogurt or granola?  That feeling usually calms down when I chew s/f gum.  Could be that the granola or yogurt had a higher percentage of sugars than it should.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Carbs= i dont think so....
Anxiety= probably not, doesnt usually result in actual passing out.
A blood sugar issue= My money is on that.
Pregnancy= Can you rule it out?

I can't completely rule out pregnancy, bu the chances are not very high as I always have double protection.   You are not the first person to ask that, though, so maybe I should get a test just to be sure.

I'm betting on blood sugar, as well.

Called dr. and they are sending me the paperwork for bloodwork and then we will go from there.

Passing out from carbs? We do that? I don't think I do that. Wish I did. That would scare me straight too.

Seriously tho. We DO that now?

I'd bet low blood sugar. I do remember tieing (sp) eating carbs early in the day with that hot, sweaty, dizzy, nauseaus (sp) feeling hours later and wondered if it was a carb crash.

My spelling sux today. Time to brush up my skillz.
