Nicole,
Thanks for sharing the two articles and the pictures.  Glad he got his metal, he is a true Hero, and someone to be really proud of.

I commented on FB, but feel it is worthy of a double post.

This was very touching and I'm glad I got to see the story again and with a picture.

What a well deserved honor and I'm glad he was able to make it the ceremony.

In recent months a number of Vietnam vets have gotten their well deserved belated awards. Finally. There guys well deserve them. We sent them to fight a war that was unlike any conflict we ever fought.
They came home and instead of getting the honor they deserved they were spit on and some even hid the fact they served and the horrors they suffered.
God bless all vets.

Nicole,

Thank you for posting the articles about your uncle. As I was reading them this morning they brought me to tears. Such a deserved honor and i'm so glad your uncle was able to make the ceremony.

All the best to you and your family,
Kris.

Thank you everyone. It amazes me that he was never given his awards, but the government and paper work do not go together. He and his BF were in a fox hole basically manning a gun, when they were attacked. He watched as his BF was blown up right beside him. It is no wonder that he has never wanted to talk about it, or press for any honors that may be his. I am happy for him and totally impressed that 100 people showed up for him. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers his family will need them very soon I am sure.

That's really beautiful Nic.   Glad to see he was finally given his recognition.   God Bless Him in at this time.

I read the article and now I've got goose bumps. I'm floored that such a goof can be made and it sounds like it happens fairly often. So glad he received his award while he's here and able to take pride in the moment. Too often these things are done posthumously and the veteran isn't able to do that. Very happy to read a happy ending story.
