Wednesday Workouts
Didn't see anyone post the workout thread today...
I just got home from the gym - day 3 of "commit to be fit" and I'm already feeling it big-time!
Tonight was cardio - we spent about 25 minutes on intervals on the treadmill, followed by 35 minutes on intervals rotating between recumbent bike and rowing machine (5 minutes on rower, followed by intervals of 1 - 3 minutes at varying intensity on the bike). He REALLY pushed us and wow - I could hardly walk when we were done. Followed up with some great stretching.
Tomorrow night we'll be back to weights and agility with a little cardio.
So what have YOU done to move today?

Way to go Karen!!! I wish there was something like that here that I could actually do. But, my workouts seem to be pretty good for me for right now.
Tonight, I went to First Strides and thanks to the cooler, less humid weather, I was able to jog more than 1/2 of the time out on the course today!!! WOOT WOOT!!!!!!
Yesterday, I went to Pilates.. don't remember if there was a thread or not, so I figured what they hey.. I'll post it now!

um, do I like First Strides.. yes and no. It is making me do cardio and I'm pushing myself to keep up with the leaders in the group. We are separated into groups based on speed and I am in the second slowest group---which is perfectly fine with me. I am not a runner and do not aspire to be one. Today was the first time I was able to keep up with the leader and not lag behind with the mentor who follows at the back. The cooler weather definitely played a role in that. I am very proud of myself for keeping up, but I don't know that "liking it" would be my word.
The reason I say that is because part of the reason I joined was to bond with other women and make some more friends who I can walk with. People seem to have joined in pairs or more and tend to stick with their partners. I joined with a new FB friend, but she does not come to all of the meetings. So, I get to talk periodically with some of the women, but don't feel that any friendships are going to be born of the experience.
I also am not getting the full benefit of the experience because I am not doing the homework like I should. They give you a workout program that you are supposed to do a certain amount of times during the week to help build your endurance with the goal of completing the 5K at the end. I am not doing the homework because quite frankly I do not like the treadmill and I do not like walking/jogging by myself. I have tried to get Siehara to come out with me and she has no interest, so I gave up on that because I don't want the aggravation when I am trying to do my workouts.
In summary, since I have now rambled.. I like that I am challlenging myself the night of the group meetings, but I don't like that I haven't put forth the full effort, nor do I seem to have the desire to do so. I'm also a bit disappointed that the day of the 5K is the same day as the Bat Mitzvah of a girl Siehara's age from the synagogue and she and the Caines will be going to that instead of coming to support me. I guess I would like to have someone close to me there to celebrate my finishing my first 5K.... sigh

So give us the frigging date and not only will you have "someone" close to you to celebrate - you will have a whole frigging crowd. I know it's not the same as family like Siehara, but damn it we'll make it as close as we can!
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
oh you mean my family??
It is Saturday October 16. I will be participating in the 5K run. We were told that if we plan to do ANY running/jogging at all not to participate in the competitive walk so as not to **** off the walkers.
Here is the schedule for the event. I would LOVE IT if some of you could make it. If you need directions, let me know. It's pretty easy to get there from anywhere. It's right off I-78.

I just got back a little bit ago from a walk around my neighborhood, to be honest I'm surprised that someone in the neighborhood didn't call the cops about someone walking around the neighborhood at midnight.. LOL
Anyways, I walked 2.25 miles in 40 minutes tonight.
