Missed my 2-year surgiversary

Sept 8 was my 2 year surgiversary.  It came and went and quite frankly just realized it yesterday.  I was on my 3rd cruise since my new beginning and have to say I felt normal, but when I think about my choices during the week, I am amazed.  All protein and veggies.  Plenty of choices.  Didn't eat any extra bread (like with dinner) and did not order dessert at all.  I did have a bite of dessert from my husband's choice maybe 3 of 7 days and for lunch indulged in a reuben one day but chose to eat it open faced to avoid the second piece of bread.   I did drink some wine throughout the week. Comparing these choices and this week of eating to one cruise prior to my surgery where I ate 6-8 meals each day, with dessert, with extra bread, with the bad carbs, and plenty of fruity, sugary frozen alcoholic drinks, is really amazing to me.

I am not eloquent with words and don't post too often, but this has been an incredible 2 years and I appreciate the support of folks here which is my main support source.  I read everyday and love the advice that is given and really contemplate issues raised and the responses to them that are giving with heartfelt desire to help and share.

Thank you all so much for helping me everyday.

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Congrats, Lisa. It is so good to hear that eating will still be in my future -- someday. Feeling "normal" sounds good too. What else did you do on your cruise?

Lisa,
Happy Belated Surgiversary.  I love to hear how people navigate the issues of making healthy choices in tough situations, like the cruise.  You are working your tool in a good way.

Keep up the good work.

Trish
