Job interview follow up
OK,, I did it. I wowed them!
I was told at the interview that I was a finalist - and was introduced to some staff members as "a finalist." I am sure that they were impressed that I made the trip down specifically for the interview, too.
It was actually a pretty easy interview, to be honest.
And I looked as good as I've ever looked, if I do say so myself.
Downside? The money isn't great. Sort of "sticker shock" in reverse, looking at moving south. It's just different here from what one person told me who moved from the DC area.
And they will call with a decision in a week or so. So....we shall see! In the meantime, Mike and I have a lot of talking to do to decide how we would proceed if they do offer me the job. Finances, being apart for a while...all huge topics.
Now, want to hear the "woo woo" part? My mom, who is in Michigan, is 93 yrs. old. She called today because I am flying to Michigan tomorow for some family stuff. She said she was up in the middle of the night and wrote me a letter, which she read to me. And...her letter was as if she had been listening to some of my conversations of the past month....about how my current job is taking too much of me, how I am missing parts of life that are important, how I have untold stories and should be doing some writing (a key goal for me and something I am working on). Is it a sign????

Lynn,
I am so proud of you! I knew you would WOW them!!
Money isn't everything, but it sure does help! In this economy it is hard to pass on job opportunities when they present themselves. I had an experience myself with finding what I thought was "greener pastures" in a new job. Well, the new job was in a MUCH better working environment than what I had at my previous job. There were downsides to me taking this job including a HUGE pay cut, but I wanted out of my job so off I went....Well, I worked there for two years and was RIFfed. Did I mention that the drive to work was ALOT further? So, I returned to where I was before and have been there ever since. I LOVE my job now!! Those two years taught me that the grass is NOT always greener on the other side....just something to think about!
I know that I am making a difference in my students' lives and that makes my job soooo worth it!!
Congrats on however things turn out!! Though, I will miss you if you go to Florida

Congratulations on wowing them and yourself on the interview - that's wonderful.
You haven't said what part of Florida but I know somenadeas are much cheaper to live in down there as opposed to here so if that's the case where you're looking it may not be as much of an issue.
Wishing you all the best on this.
