When you want crunchy snax...what do you eat?

I try to limit my carb intake to only corn chips (tortilla type) and popcorn for dry crunchy carbs. But, I've noticed lately that I've allowed saltines, sugar free cookies and wheat thins.

Will somebody tell me what you eat that is OK for us if anything? Too many have snuck back into my eating and I KNOW it's bad. I just don't want to let them in so early on for myself. I've always been a stress eater and when I get angry about something I find myself wanting to crunch.

I used to do the nuts for crunch, maybe I need to refresh my supply.

Soy nuts or edamame.  Almonds and walnuts in MODERATIOn.  Maybe some of the "fancier" toast-type crackers.  The very dry kinds.  You can take some shredded cheese; place it on parchemtn paper; and microwave it until it gets crispy.  You'll have to experiment with time.  I usually do an ounce per and cook about 45 seconds.  Cheddar makes a very nice "cracker."

Check out Bariatric Choice website (I promise I don't work for them ).  They have protein pretzels and protein chips in individual size bags.  I like the pretzels the best and they look pretty healthy!

Cocopops rule!  (only 16 cals and 4 carbs in them, nice and crunchy...).  you can spread a thin layer of PB on them, or cream cheese, or spray them lightly with a little butter spray and sprinkle garlic powder or chili powder, salt and spices...    I get mine at wegmans, but i hear there are others at Giant and Acme (a different brand - don't recall the name).

I also discovered corn nuts last week... basically, it's dried corn kernals that have been toasted and salted/spiced.  You can even make them yourself... yum.  Lower in fat than nuts, but just carbs, not a ton of protein.

1/4 cup of nuts (almonds, cashews, etc.) is a serving as well, but go easy on them... they're high in fats.

Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc....

I agree Cocopops are yummy!
I like one with a little bit of natural peanut butter and sf jelly onece in a while.

I also do the cheese in the microwave thing, usually with some salsa.
At work I have a stash of pistachios. I grab a handful and shell and eat them one at a time. By the time I'm done I'm usually satisfied.

May I suggest Pork Rinds? They are crunchy, and no carbs or trans fats. Yummy. Carole

Thanks for the ideas and for not scolding me for eating saltines. To me they're the equivalent of a bag of flower but are one of my all time favorites.

I've seen cocopops but wasn't sure what they were. My brain went to chocolate cereal and I walked right by. I'll have to go to Wegman's again and get some.

As for pork rinds. I tried them. Not my favorite by a long shot. They really gross me out. Aren't they deep fried fat strips? Don't laugh at me if they're not. Ok, go ahead. Many others do. That's always what I thought they were.

I had forgotten completely about protein packed pretzels etc. I def. need to buy some to have on hand. That would be a huge help.

Thank you everyone and to anyone that has more ideas for me!

BLUE DIAMOND NUT THINS.......http://www.bluediamond.com/index.cfm?navid=34         They are relatively new (TJ's has their own version in a bag, but not as many flavors).   Chedder Cheese, BBQ, Sea Salt, Smokehouse, Ranch, Almond, Pecan, taste great, have some protein, within our limits for carbs and fats and CRUNCHY.   Problem with crackers is they are "sliders", turn to paste and slide on through leaving you hungry faster.   One portion of these is 17 crackers; I doubt you'd be able to put 17 crackers in your pouch!

When I want crunchy I have a palm full of Cashews, I weighed them it's about 1/2 oz and I'm satisfied for the day or a few days.

When Gene wants crunchy he's more creative than I am, he mixes a couple ounces of Kashi Go Lean Crunch with some almonds and walnuts.  He has to be careful as he tends to get carried away with it and has to put it away so he doen'st keep eating it.
