I'm home from my hospital stay

Yes, Lisa.  The intestines are empty now.  I take Amitiza twice a day and was taking stool softeners because I knew the Percocet could bind me, especially since I also take Iron.  I was going everyday, sometimes more than once so I thought I was okay.  I won't ever make that assumption again if I have to take narcotics.  Now the doctor has me on the Amitiza twice a day and Miralax once a day, as a fiber suppliment once a day mixed with water.

Thank you!

Hi David,
Yes it was quite the ordeal.  Not one I'd care to repeat.  I will be very conscious of following all instructions on my meds and the Miralax that the doc wants me to take.

Thank you ,
Ida

Constipation freaking hurts!  Even when you don't know that you have it...and have been having regular BM's.

And lemme tell you - all that morphine and dilaudid isn't helping matters...so as long as it's ok w/ your docs I STRONGLY reccommend taking miralax daily for awhile now.....

Glad you're home and feeling better!

Thank you Pam,
In addition to the Amatiza that I already take, they put me on Miralax once a day and a fiber suppliment mixed with water once a day.

I figured I was on the Amatiza and I was also taking stool softeners while on the Percocet, and having regular bowel movements.  Who would have thunk this would happen.

I agree Morphine & dilaudid didn't do a thing for me - Gene kept saying you have enough drugs in your system to knock an elephant out - what's going on with you????  I'm the one who can't keep my eyes open past 8pm most nights :-)

Hi Ida - wishing you all the best and sending many good thoughts and prayers your way - you went through quite an ordeal but I'm happy to see that you received excellent care especially considering your 'special' condition. Take care - get some rest and keep us posted.

Thank you Kathy,
I was shocked at the care and special attention I got immediately once triage started my medical history.

Wow Ida I'm so sorry that happened to you.  I know what its like to feel fine one moment and the next thing you now your in the hospital and they are trying to find out whats wrong with you.  It can be a very scary and anxious time.  I'm glad that they found out what was wrong with you and you are home recuperating.  Stay strong and take your time getting better.
