Hair loss and hair cuts?

So my hair is coming out more and more each day. I was prepared for this, and am not letting myself get upset. I know it will grow back, and hopefully it won’t thin too much before then.

My question is, hair cut or not to hair cut?
I usually let it go a little longer in the winter, but I’m wondering if I should get have it cut short again as it has been this summer. It’s in that in between phase that drives me nuts. Too short to pull back and too long to not look messy.   Can some of the veterans on here give me some advice please. Is one better than the other for thinning hair? What’s been your experience?   Thanks in advance guys.

i know the hair issues. mine is still falling out. i am not sure if it is the surgery or just seasonal. Back to your question  the length your hair  is in you avatar picture is nice. why not try some layers to make it look fuller. by the way have you tried  BIOTIN   it is supposed to help with hair and nails.

Cut it. My Mom is my hairdresser, she's been doing it for 35+ years and as soon as mine started falling out we chopped it. Made a HUGE difference. Coloring it also helps because it makes each hair follicle thicker. Nioxxin shampoo and conditioner work great too. Other then that make sure you are getting in your protein and you'll do great. Dr Brader told me he never had a patient go bald :)

I'd trust Liz!

I also think it makes a slight difference if you have light or dark hair, and if your hair is naturally thicker. Mine is dark so the hair loss I had seemed to show most along my part. However, it's usually thick - so even after some loss, I had plenty. I flipped the part to the other side, grew it out a bit longer, and it was fine.

And now it's all back, so that's the light at the end of the tunnel!

I am 11 months out.  My hair started to fall out terribly around 3 months and continued until maybe 2 months ago.   Once in awhile I still get hair balls when I rinse out the conditioner but it's not handfulls like it was.

My hairdresser suggested a shorter style and layered to cover up what was becoming bald spots.  She also strongly suggested that for the summer I not go lighter but stay with the darker shade I use in the winter.  She told me with the thinning hair, the chemicals to lighten my hair for the summer would cause more damage to my falling out hair.

I also started taking Biotin 2500 mcg twice a day prior to my surgery in preparation for this.  I tried to cut back on the Biotin and my eyebrows fell out - looked pretty silly without eyebrows for a few months.  I also started using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and upped the protein intake.

My hair has steadied out now.  The bald spots have grown back in and my nails are growing wonderfully and are hard.  Something that I've never had.  My nails my whole life have broken and split, thanks to the Biotin they are healthy and strong for the first time in my life.

My hairdresser told me that once I started to use the Nioxin shampoo that I'd have to use it continuously - I love, love, love it so I'm never giving it up!

My hair is naturally thin but thanks to the Biotin, Nioxin, and additional protein that I try to make sure I get each day (some days are just too difficult to get in the extra) my hair is now thicker than it's been since I was in high school.

Good luck with your hair.....

I cut mine and am loving it short!  It will grow back if you're not happy with it.

I always wore my hair short, but went even shorter - the loss is just starting to subside for me. Still losing, but only 1/10 of what I was losing.  I take biotin and wash and condition with nioxin products too!

Forgot to mention that I also used Nioxin.  I believe you can get it in any beauty salon.  I'm not sure it is sold in a food market.

I got a scalp treatment at our local beauty school when my hair started falling out . . . and it was falling out in globs!  I, too, thought I would go bald, but it never happened (so don't worry).  It came back in a different consistency and stopped growing (which I was upset about).

I know all of this has nothing to do with you getting a haircut, but I thought the suggestion for a scalp treatment might help.  I think it did for me.
