Im trying to make protein icecream in a hand mixed icecream maker.  I froze the inner container for a few days.... mixed the protein powder, milk, extract and splenda in the magic bullet and poured into the icecream maker.  I have been turning it according to the directions but its still liquid.  Question is...was i supposed to put the whole contraption back in the freezer between cranks or just let it sit on the counter?

I had to laugh at the 'never mind' too!!!  Sorry I can't answer your question.  I have a Cuisanart ice cream maker, and my ice cream is frozen in about 15 minutes.  What kind of milk did you use?  I think skim won't set up.  I use 2% for mine.

I used skim.

Try it with Soy Slender or with 2% milk.  I was using vanilla soy and thought some of the flavors were so-so.  Started using 2%, and it's made a big difference in flavor and texture.  I think I remember reading somewhere that skim doesn't work well for ice cream.  Might be on Eggface's blog?

Sorry, I had to laugh at the image of you using a hand-cran**** cream maker, and then saying "Eff it, I'm going to drink it!" I have a cuisinart automatic one -- it was $40 after a 20% off coupon at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was totally worth it.

Also, I agree about the 2% milk. I either use that or even (gasp!) whole milk, or some ricotta (and not the fat-free kind, blech!).

I will try the 2 % and give it another shot.  I am wondering too if the freezer container didn't freeze right.  I want to buy an electric one, but a coworked lent me this on to try first.  If nothing else...Wawa has come out with SF mint chocolate chip that I hear is good LOL
