Trying to find my way back...
Hi PA board,
I have been MIA for quite some time, I had Lap Gastric 9/27/07 & though it has changed my life for the better, I am still not happy with my results. I know I am to blame but that is why I am trying to find my way back! I let life get the better of me & I still need to lose an additional 50 + pounds before I will decide if I am happy at that weight! So, I come here looking for advice, encouragement & words of wisdom.

this is a life long process. See my post from earlier about how old we are ? Lol you will need to use your tool just like you did before. It is not magic it just needs to be used and only you can make the choice to do so. Excercise is a must I am realizing that it is integral to my long term success. You must go back to protein first, dont drink and eat at the same time. etc. I am sure you will get many more posts. but just wanted to say you can do this
We all lose our way at times - I see you're a Barix baby - they have EXCELLENT support group meetings in Langhorne once a month and the dates and times are always posted on here, or I'm sure Beth or someone else will gladly share that with you (I would but don't want to give you bad info as I'm not positive...).
I'm 2.5 years out and still not at my personal goal weight, but god knows feeling much better and healthier than I ever had. I come here daily for support and advice and that keeps me from gaining. I don't get to the Barix meetings as often as I would like because they're pretty far for me, but when I do go they are always welcoming and supportive.
Welcome - we're always here so come by often!

Welcome Back, you aren't alone. Don't make it BIGGER than it has to be. "One meal at a time."
Learn again to say "no", to "throw things out" and "drive past fast food" and to "stick up for yourself with your family" and don't feel guilty about it. And, when it all builds up, go smack something (preferably not a family member) or run it out or do something physical to reset the chemicals that are screeching at you. Takes a few weeks but the hormones will settle down just like they did after surgery and you'll get back on track. Might take a little longer to see the loss on the scale this time as your body is adjusted to its newer plumbing and if that stresses you out just put the scale away and rely on how your clothing feels.
"One meal at a time".....(and interval exercising).

Welcome Back we always have an open door! Like Kathy said we have amazing support groups at Barix. We have changed formats around to break out into small groups by either age(length of time out from surgery) or other times by topics.
We meet the third Wednesday night of the month at 7pm for the post -op meeting and the First Saturday of the month at 11:00 til 1:30.
We would love to see you join us. Trust me you are not alone in this journey.
Whoops also Liz offers a cooking class/support group once a month at her home. Plus others also may pop up with a support group at their home that may work for you. Keep an eye on the board find a buddy and or a dozen we gotcha!

Hi and Welcome Back...I am in the same situation you are, as I picked up old habits, plus alcohol, one year out, and am just now trying to relearn how to use my tool.
I will attest to the Barix meetings, as I just go back to them and found them to be great for recharging my brain, just like my AA meetings help me.
Get out your Barix Bible and reread some of it. Make sure you get in your exercise, as that is key. I am struggling with the exercise because of my current health situation prevents me from doing any significant exercise just now.
Post on Roll Call everyday, and get your mind set for the day for your journey.
Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

I can't add any more than what people have already said - never to late to come back! Start with getting back to basics...fluids and protein primarily and add in exercise and cut the carbs etc. The pouch will always work, maybe not as rapidly as that first year, but will work all the same! congrats on deciding to get a hold of things again!
Stay close to the board and get to meetings as much as possible - it really will help!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
I have been in the lurk mode and your post has certainly hit close to home. I have been going through a lot of personal stress and you have said so much of what I am feeling. The same problems and the same stress that caused me to eat and overindulge is still there, and I have gained weight. I need to find my way back also teegee70 and feeling frustrated with myself I also need to be here.
Welcome back! I can't really add much more to what others have said but just know that this board and these people will always be there to offer support and encouragement! Keep posting and let us know how you are doing! (((HUGS)))
