It sounds to me like you have a team of cautious and thorough doctors watching over you. I know that "wait and see" isn't always what you want to hear, but it's sometimes so much better than "let's cut" when it's not warranted. Your WLS led you to get help quickly and made your doctors look at things more thoroughly than they might have otherwise... thank heavens for that.
Sending you thoughts and good wishes. My father was diagnosed with colon cancer through an episode very similar to yours when I was only 18 months old. He was sent home after aggressive surgery with a prognosis of 6 months to live. He lived to see his grandchildren born and died of a heart attack.
