Well, I've finally been cleared to go back to the gym on a limited basis.

I did 25 minutes on the recumbent bike with no adverse side-effects. I plan on quickly working my way up to an hour until the doctor clears me for the elliptical again.

The bike is not nearly as intense a workout as the elliptical is, although on the plus side, I can play my Nintendo DS while I'm on it.

So, how about you guys? What have you been up to as of late?

Yay Norm!  I am only allowed to do the elliptical... I loathe the elliptical.  Glad to read that you are cleared to start working out again.  I meet with the surgeon on 9/9 to figure out my next step.  Until then it is only the elliptical and yoga... I don't like yoga either.

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

welcome back Norm...

I went to the gym last night.. 10 mins on the elliptical followed by 60 min pilates and 60 min body pump

Depending on what I end up doing today, my plan is to go the gym tonight for another 60 minute pilates class.  I am REALLY enjoying my new found flexibility!

Glad to see you're back -- we were slackers with posting the exercise thread, I'll admit.

Today will be one hour of strength training followed by one hour of Zumba. Bring it on!

I'm just sittin' on the bleachers watching you guys work out.  I see the doctor tomorrow, but I'm not expecting medical clearance for at least a few more weeks.

Norm!
Glad to see you posting again and to hear that you are doing a little better. I just came back for 4 mile walk done under 50 minutes so it was pretty brisk paced walk. My RA has been acting up again so I am switching up by doing the elliptical 3 times a week and then walking an hour after work and walking on my lunch and breaks.

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

Welcome back!

I went to the gym and 30 mins on the treadmill.  Been upping my speed and doing jogging at 4.0-4.5, always at least a 3% incline, interval with brisk walking at about 3.8mph

Then I met with my trainer for 30 mins.  He wants me dead.  I'm sure of it.

As far as the weights are concerned - he now has me doing "super sets" which instead of doing two different exercises in quick succession, a 20 second break, and repeat those two exercises for a total of three rounds...we do 3 different exercises in quick succession....and lemme tell you...it totally changes things.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
