Knee surgery

OK so here's the deal. I have to have an arthroscopic procedure to "clean up" the torn meniscus next Wednesday.

I do indeed also have some signs of joint degeneration, very likely due to the years of hauling around the excess weight.

The procedure takes 30 minutes or so.

The recovery is more than 30 minutes. Like...maybe weeks. Like...maybe more than RNY till I feel really good again.

But let's look at the good side...I work from home most days so should be able to keep up fairly well. I just hope that I don't need a lot of pain meds...they send me out into la la land pretty quickly.

Another good side - the doc seems pretty sure this will bring some relief. If the joint issue is a problem, some injections will follow up to create a cushion around the kneecap.

And I will dust off my hand weights so I can at least do a few upper body exercises along the way...till then, off to the pool.

Downside? I"ll miss Barix in August...and we are out of town for the Sept. meeting so won't see you guys till October. :-(

Wishing you all the best with your surgery - your recovery time should be minimal especially since you're in such good shape now. I had orthoscopic years ago to remove a bone spur and repair some ligament damage. Ultimately I did have to have my knee replaced but the first surgery helped a lot.

Take care and keep us posted on how it's going.
