carbs?
Most surgeons won't give you a number. It also depends on what kind of carbs. "white" carbs (white bread, pasta, white rice etc) shouldn't be eaten at all. Whole grain carbs are OK in moderation but still always eat the protein and veggies first. Fruit is also considered a carb as is fruit juice. These too are OK in moderation. When I was pregnant was the only time I was given a definitive number of 100 grams a day. I would say 1/2 that is probably "normal" although I struggle with the carb monster.

I just saw my surgeon for my four year check-up. He gave me some guidelines, and said that the 150-200 grams range is where I should aim for. Preferably closer to 150. He also said that I should read the labels and not go over 6 grams of sugar in a serving of something.

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

If you are extremely active of course the amount will be higher. If you are carb sensitive, you need to find your number.
When I eat certain carbs I can feel myself getting thick. Pay attention to this. Keep track of your carbs and food combinations and weight yourself daily. Log your results and you will see a pattern. If you find yourself stalling or gaining you'll be able to tie it your log and make an educated decision on what did it. After a few weeks you will be great at determining your limit for losing or maintaining.
