Need revision from slipped lapband to RNY - anyone near Phili

I am new to this board. I am about to schedule my revision surgery & I was wondering if anyone has been through this before? Any info is much appreciated! I waiver between being really scared and feeling like I am saving my life.  Also, does anyone know if there are any formal/informal meetings in the Phili area? I go to one at HUP monthly, but was wondering if there are others. Thanks.

Hello Caroline.  I do not have any experience with the revision and I don't live near Philly so I can't offer any insight on support groups in that area.  I did want to wish you good luck though!

Hi Caroline,
Ardmore is not too far from Langhorne but if you can attend Barix meeting they have pre-op meetings every 2nd Tuesdays of the month and post-op meetings on 3rd Wednesdays of month from 7-9PM. Barix is located adjacent to the Oxford Valley Mall. Hope to see you at one of the meeting. There us a wealth of information at these meeting for lap-banders and RNY'ers.

I just came from Crozer's monthly meeting.  It's every 2nd Wednessday of the month from 6-7.  We had a huge class this week.  Lots of pre-ops. Me being one of them.

Good luck with your revision.

Barix also has a support meeting on the first Saturday of each month. Their meetings are open to patients from any doctor or hospital and are exceptionally well run!

Caroline,

Welcome to the board and I can totally understand your being scared, what you are about to embark on is a lifetime commitment to doing things in a way that involves dedication to taking vitamin supplements daily for the rest of your life, making healthier eating choices and adding some form of sustainable exercise to your daily activities.  Most of us make this decision with great forethought, but I seriously have not heard anyone say they regretted having had WLS.  WLS is a tool to help us achieve a certain goal, but there are things we need to do beyond that, which is why many of us stay in support to stay accountable and to keep the fire burning by watching others go through the process. . .

Shilpa mentioned Barix in Langhorne, as has been stated the meetings there are open to anyone having or considering WLS and we have people from all over come to our meetings.  Hope to meet you at one of them. . .

Good luck, there is lots of support out there.

Laureen
