Movie Munchies
I love popcorn. Especially movie popcorn. Lucky for me, I don't go to the movies often. Once every two years? Maybe? However today is a movie day. My son, 8 years old, never wants to go to the movies. Today he does.. figures! I'm only 3 weeks out and popcorn in any form is out of the question. (Can you even have popcorn when you are years out?) Avoiding the movies is not an option. What does everyone do when you go to the movies? Any suggestions for something to eat in the soft food stage?
Thank you all for your responses in advance! This board has been tremendously helpful!!

Kristine,
Personally I avoided the movies until I was about six months out. I knew that the smell of the popcorn would drive me CRAZY!!! I understand having a young child who wants to go to the movies. Some suggestions, SF pudding, plain greek yogurt, or just a protein drink. I am a year out and I do eat some popcorn, but not very often. If I get any, I get the kids pack, give my daughter the fruit snacks and drink and I eat some of the kids size popcorn. Some people can't eat it, but I guess I am one of the ones that can. I do it VERY sparingly!!
Another suggestion, eat before you go so hopefully you won't want it! It is kind of like not shopping while you are hungry. I won't tell you that the smell won't drive you crazy, but I would not try it so early after your surgery. Just think of it like your first of many challenges to overcome.
Hope that helps!
Have fun....

Thanks everyone! The movie was a success despite having to hold the popcorn while the others in my party went for a pee break! I kept it literally at arms length I did bring my crystal light ice tea in a water bottle and fage yogurt with a bit of SF caramel syrup. Despicable Me was cute and had a few chuckles for the adults in the crowd.

Glad you did well! The first of many challenges of learning to enjoy things for what they are, not for what food goes "with" it!
And yes, most can have popcorn as they get further out. But, it's a carb and can be a trigger food so it's adviseable to watch it closely. I eat it...sparingly though! Normally when I'm out - I can't keep a box of it here, to much temptation!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
