Hey all Hope everyone is doing well. I have been having a problem the last couple of days and I am hoping that someone has an idea what I can try. On the 8th I had my first postop check and found out the incision that opened and was draining is infected. After taking 7 of the antibiotics the infection was getting worse so I called and now I am taking two antibiotics. the 1st is Avelox, the 2nd flagyl. Been on the flagyl for three days. Problem is this I can't eat or drink. I am nauseous and feel full up into my throat. I haven't had and throwing up. The first thing I tried was a laxative, I hadn't had a BM in about four days. Laxative worked fine but not feeling any better. The thing that worries me most is that I am not getting in nearly enough fluids. I couldn't even take my morning meds this morning and I haven't eaten all day. I only have about 12 ozs of fluids in today. I should say I take quite a few meds so I have been taking them over four hours or so there was just no way to get them in today. I tried a SF popsicle and could only eat 3/4 of it. Anyhow sorry this was so long and rambling. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks everyone. Belinda

I suggest you get back in touch with your doctor. I know flagyl is very difficult on the stomach and a side effect is nausea. U need to be able to eat and drink. Did they do a wound culture to see what organism causing the infection? If not I suggest you ask. Good luck

I have no idea other than to call the doctor. That's what I would do. They are there for things like this. You need to get rid of the infection, but you also don't want to dehydrate yourself. They may need to change the meds or something.

Please check with them. I surely hope you get this resolved very soon.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Call the doc and tell him/her about the discomfort and nausea.  I had been on an antibiotic once that had me feeling exactly the same way.  They can change the prescription easily.  There is also the option of hospitalizing you for IV antibiotics if things do not clear up.

Good luck,
Trish
