Thanks. I was afraid to actually post cause I didn't want to jinx anything. My saga:
I had really bad insurance which had an exclusion for bariatric surgery in 2002. I tried to sue with the help of my brother in law, but it did nothing.
8n 2004 My insurance carrier changed to a company that claimed they support WLS, but they put me through so much hell, that my surgeon cancelled my surgery and refused to work with them anymore. Went to the surgeon THEY said I had to go to which was 6 hours away from me and they STILL made me jump through so many hoops, I gave up. It turns out that although they say they cover surgery, they don't actually do it. Only a handful of people, interestingly enough employees of the company, had the surgery after all. Finally, about 2 years ago I got BC/BS. I was so afraid to try again that I ignored it for a while but the thought wouldn't leave my head. I tried to make peace with my weight, but I could not and finally tried again. Went through the program at Hershey Penn State and finally got the right fit. I believe all things happen for a reason and I chose to think the universe was just trying to protect me!!!!! I've had a long time to work on my head, my emotions, to really prepare me. Now, onto the big day.
I'm afraid of the pain, the side effects, fasting, malnutrion, post surgical problems . . . not surviving the surgery . . . ACK! So much to think about. I hope to be a regular visitor from now on! Thanks. Any encouragement is greatly welcomed

Congrats!!! What you are feeling is normal!
I have surgery in a week and a half and I have been through every possible emotion!!!
I am still anxious about all that you mentioned, but have been trying to focus only on the positive outcomes and mentally preparing myself for surgery and all the changes it brings!!
Good luck to you!!

Congratulations on getting your surgery date..it is definitely normal to be feeling all of those apprehensions...i felt them too, up to the day of the surgery...on the way to the hospital I was giving my wife funeral instructions...but I had almost no pain, no real problems..my operation was 12/2 and I hit the 80lbs lost level today..walking 3 miles a day..lost about 10 inches from my chest and waist...good luck with your surgery and keep me informed....dcm107
