I am having such a bad time with bloating and gas.  I am at my wits end with this.  I constantly have gas and my tummy rumbles and gurgles and hurts. At almost 2 months out and over 30lbs lost my undies are still tight and so are my pants.  Things are getting easier as far as what I can eat and tolerate but this gas is just killing me.  I was in class last night and was in pain the whole time. This will get better right? I am just miserable and the sucky thing is my hubby who had his surgery the same day had none of this!! He doesn't even have dumping! I made a mistake with the kind of yogurt I bought and had dumping bad.  I just hope this gets easier.

hello,
Yes this to will pass:) excuse the pun, I couldn't help it. Your gi track is just more sensitive than hubby's. Walk, walk, walk and walk some more. Be sure that you aren't using a straw when you drink fluids, and be sure to chew with your mouth closed, and don't talk alot when eating. You could be swallowing alot of air while eating and not be aware of it. Your body is healing and still getting used to an altered digestive process. Devrom is a product that will greatly reduce gas odor, available over the internet, I use the chewable tablets, and find that it works well. Let your surgeon know if this continues to be an ongoing problem for you. I hope you feel better. Peppermint and ginger teas are soothing to your digestive track. You might want to give them a try. Hang in there.

OTher then the gas-x strips...

what are you making your shakes with? Try switching to soy milk and see if it gets better. Many of us (me included) become lactose intolerant and that is EXACTLY what dairy does to me! Bloating, gas pain etc. Yogurt doesn't bother me, I eat fage greek yogurt daily, but milk kills my stomach - as does ice cream and some artificial sweeteners. Try cutting out some splenda too and see if that helps!

Best of luck

Liz

Oh and like Chris said the more you move the better it will get!

Ask your surgeon about GasX.  I am allowed to take it, and I keep it in my purse to take as often as I need it.  If I eat anything like broccoli, peppers, cauliflower, and of course BEANS, I suffer.  But, the GasX, or the generic version of it, does wonders.

It does lessen a little, but I am over 2 years out, and have bad spells from time to time.

Seriously, call your surgeon to be sure.

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Oh this does get better and easier to deal with.  You will learn through experience what gives you gas and what doesn't.  I used to get such bad gas pains that I would be doubled over in pain thinking that my insides were going to come out of me like a scene from a horror movie.

I've learned what gives me that kind of gas and what gives me the ... smelly gas, too.  But I do always carry around Gas X chewables and Phazym as well.  If the pain gets really bad, I take both!

But it does get better.  I still get bloaded now and then, too.  I really like elastic bands still even though I can wear the zipper/button kind of pants.  It is just more comfortable.

Try not to get too discouraged.   This is the time you are getting to know your body.  We so often have ignored the natural signals that our body gives for what our body needs.  Now, we learn.
