I don't feel good

I would recommend the doctor...save the ER for true emergencies and I don't think you've reached that point.   Or try the Ducolax suppositories or a Fleet's Enema and see if they help  first.

Fiber Sure nightly in my cup of tea.  It keeps things soft.

Take a deep breath.

At this point - the regular stool softeners probably won't help as much.  Here is my "cure all"  It's not a grand old good party time, but hell - it works, isn't all that unbearable....and you feel 1000% better afterwards.

Dulcolax suppository.  Generally works for me in 15 mins or less.  There have been one or two times where it didn't.  If no BM.....

4 PERI-colace at night (NOT regular colace...you need the laxative portion of it)

If still no BM you can repeat the dulcolax suppository the next night, or whenever you are gonna be home, and also the 4 peri colace tabs that night if needed.

It's worked like a charm (in fact, I did the suppository thing and peri colace last night because I was all bound up and felt like crap, literally) for myself and few others I have noticed.

The problem with stool softeners is, if you already had hard stool down there....they do very little in softening it up to the point where you can move that out of the way to get the other stuff out.  You need to attack it from the bottom, to soften it a bit so it can move.  The peri colace has a laxative in it, so it physically gets things moving in the right direction as opposed to just softening stuff.

After an issue like that, I generally start to "wean" myself off the peri colace by taking 3 the next night after a BM, 2 the following night, and then one the final night and then I start on regular colace for about a week just to make sure everything is "ok"

Feel better!

Pam

OK I have to mention this..  I've been pondering this... Why when we eat so little are we full of so much **** LOL.  I have never had this much problem when I was eating a ton of food.....snort

Because generally speaking our diets were high in fat.  Fat = softer stools.  And if your diet wasn't high in fat...you were eating more of EVERYTHING probably including fruits and veggies and other fiber sources.

Protein is a binder.  And basically we all eat protein first now, with little room for veggies and fruit in comparison, and restrict our fat intake.

For RNY patients, it also deals with the amount of intestine bypassed and therefore the lack of "gastric juices" the food come in contacts with and how much the body absorbs.  There is far more "stuff" left in our intestines than there was before surgery....harder for the body to move it all out

Well fortunately I have poop, just today in fact ( which is really ridiculous).   I did did take a lot of different things including teas as well as some more traditional stuff. I feel so much better and lost 3 lbs.  It's really discusting when you think about it LOL.  I haven't cancelled my drs appointment either, so I'll get the results on that one too.
