Well, it's fair to say that the weekly fitness thread was not a big hit. I don't know how to sticky threads on this board, and it kept getting buried.

Ah well, nothing wrong with trying something new.

Yesterday was a good day for me. Did a 50/50 split of 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes running on the treadmill. It was an intense workout. Did my weight training over lunch, and 30 sit-ups, 20 push-ups at night.

Today, I'm mostly done. I did 25 minutes on the elliptical, and a 35-minute run on the treadmill. I ran 2.7 miles, so I'm hoping to keep building on that as part of my training to run some in some 5k races this year.

The treadmill is just what I needed to freshen things up and start challenging myself again. My heart rate goes through the roof when I'm running on there, and I sweat like a pig after only a few minutes in. Yet oddly, according to the little computers, I burn more calories on the elliptical. I don't know if I'm buying that or not.

I'll finish up the night with push-ups and sit-ups.

What is everybody else doing yesterday and today to stay active?

The only exercise I get during my work day is running back and forth to the bathroom to pee.  However, tonight, I will do an hour of karate.  It's "balance" week...so I am hoping I can keep my balance and not end up face first on the mats.

Thanks for keeping the exercise thread going!!

I don't feel like going - - - > but I will go to the gym, really fighting with myself about it right now.

I will run for 40 minutes
I will run for 40 minutes
I will run for 40 minutes
I will run for 40 minutes
I will run for 40 minutes
I will run for 40 minutes
I will run for 40 minutes
I will run for 40 minutes

I really don't want to go!

*edit*
I didn't run - there were no open treadmills so 30 minute ARC trainer and 30 minutes elliptical followed by arm machines.

I've started training as of last week.  This morning up at 4am - ran 10 miles, then did 30 minutes of core and another 20 minutes of intense ab.  Tonight meeting with a new trainer.

Since last April, I have split up the cardio like you describe Norm, but now am working on my endurance - so I stick to one machine or on the open road for a distance rather than a time.

More to come on the training....

HI Norm

I did my usual- daily cardio - either step aerobics, elliptical or treadmill and then weights.  I also noticed that the calories add up more on the elliptical, even though I feel my workout on the treadmill is harder.  Will do more of the same tomorrow.
