Information on Services for Tom Smith
Hello everyone...
Per a great suggestion and input from Pam, I wanted to bump the information about the services for Tom Smith back up to the top of the page. For those of you who are unaware, as a Barix pre-op, Tom was a regular attendee of our 1st Saturday support group meetings. Unfortunately he passed away shortly after his procedure on Monday, January 12. There will be a memorial service for Tom at the Langhorne Presbyterian Church (125 E. Gilliam Ave.) at 11 a.m. this Satuday (tomorrow).
We found out this morning from Tom's wife that Tom made it through surgery on Monday with flying colors and experienced no issues in recovery. He was awake, alert and very happy in his room following the surgery and didn't experience complications until later in the day. Tom's wife is actually doing much better than expected and she said that anyone from the WLS community is more than welcome to celebrate his life at the memorial service tomorrow.
While we are keeping Tom, his family and their friends in our thoughts and prayers, please take a minute to also remember the staff of Barix. We are all well aware at how fiercely they love their patients and this cannot be easy on any of them as well.
Thanks,
Mike (and Pam, Katie, Shauna, etc.)

Thanks for taking such great care of the group during this difficult time, Mike. Although not posts someone wants to be making, I am sure Tom is thrilled to have such a great person speaking on his behalf in a manner of speaking.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
Mike, I saw the picture that they have on him in the Bucks County Courier what a shame. Like I said I think when we do our meeting Wednesday I think we should do a moment of silence. And we are very lucky to have a good staff at the barix clinic . I see on the main boards how people are not as lucky as us and do not have the kind of support we do.
Nan -
I don't know if you saw the obituary in the paper or not, but their charity of choice is MS Research, I don't have the address in front of me right now, but I will get it to you if you need it. We will be sure to pass on your condolences.
How are you? I think of you often, you continue to inspire me in my journey.

I too am hearing about Tom for the first time. Though I did not know Tom (may have seen him at the meetings) My heart felt sorrow goes out to Tom's family! Thank's Mike for letting us know. I would have gone to the service if I would have know sooner. I am glad it went well. If Tom's wife happens to read this post I want her to know my thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.
I do not get on OH nearly enough. I am on Barix boards though all the time. I really wish someone would have let us know so more of us could have been there for Tom and his family. Guess I should check in more often.
Thanks again Mike!
